These rules are subject to being changed as required. Read the rules thoroughly.

General Rules
- Don't be a jerk. Where all the other rules might fail, this is the most important to follow.
- Proboards has a TOS. The most important things to follow from it are mainly common sense things. Basically: No hate remarks, no putting thumbs up at alcohol or drug abuse and calling it awesome, and no threatening other players. All of this falls under the "Don't be a jerk" rule.
- No chatspeak, leetspeak, or poor spelling and grammar. Spellcheck can help with spelling, and if you're not sure about your grammar, run your post through the spelling and grammar check that is available in Microsoft Works and Word and a few other word processing programs. Warnings will be given for posts that do not meet a minimum standard.
- Keep in character things in character and out of character things out of character. Don't drag your garbage with another player or character to the other side.
- Don't post OOC things in the in-character board unless it's as a side note. It cannot be longer than the IC portion.
- Post new character applications with your first account. This is to make it easier to know who has which characters.
- Each character must have their own account. This is because of the money system, as well as the trophy system that will eventually be implemented.
- Reply to this thread saying you agree with the rules to show you have read them.
- Chillax! This is humorous, remember.
Character Rules
- Characters must be original in the sense that they cannot be marked as from any specific series. Your little half elf character has come to St D's for school? That's great, but she can't be LotR or Inheritance based. Same goes for your magic using character with the wand and pseduo-Latin spells. She can be inspired by it, but not from it.
- To maintain a semblance of gender balance, for every three female characters there must be at least two male characters. This is to encourage a relatively balanced gender ratio.
- Student characters can be no older than fifteen when starting first year, sixteen when starting second year, seventeen when starting third year, and eighteen when starting their final year. The minimum age limit for first year is ten, eleven for second year, twelve for third year, and thirteen for fourth year, and those characters must have the genius modifier trait and/or hard worker detractor trait.
- All students enrolling in the first term can only be first years.
- No catgirls. Some things just can't be trusted even in a humor RP, sorry.
- Also, no terrible pasts involving rape, molestation, or illegal drugs. For legality (due to the TOS and general laws) as well not inflicting triggering moments for people in the cases of the first two.
- Character romance is fine. Characters having sex right there and obvious is not due to Proboards' TOS. Especially if they are characters under eighteen. Please don't get the board accidentally shut down for child pornography.
Roleplaying Rules
- Third person POV and in the past tense, please, for forum RPing. This is to ensure that reading a thread later on will not be jolting due to constant POV-type changes or tense changes.
- Keep in character things in character and out of character things out of character. Don't drag your garbage with another player or character to the other side. This is so important it gets mentioned twice.
- Ask other players before setting large events in motion, especially if it will directly affect their characters, or their plans. This is a common courtesy, because there are some events where players may not want their characters to be involved in, due to interest, availability of time, or simply not wanting the character to be involved. There is also the fact that it might effect plans that they have for the character or for the thread, and they would not appreciate you interfering with that.
- Mention sautéed reindeer in your reply to this post.
- No Godmoding/powerplaying. Because since they're all Marty Stus and Mary Sues it means everyone has equal chance of hitting each other if something happens like a fight, and everyone here should be good enough RPers to know to not control someone else's character or actions unless explicit permission is given, and only for the purpose that they were given permission to do so in the first place.
For those who do not know: Godmoding is the result of not giving other players a choice in the RPing. For example, Character A and Character B are fighting. A's Player writes 'A kicked B in the chest and broke B's ribs' is godmoding. 'A aimed a kick at B's chest, intending to break B's ribs with it' is not godmoding.
This scenario is also godmoding: If A was good at fighting, but B was not, and B's Player kept RPing that B was not being hit at all or that A's attacks were doing nothing when they should do something to B.
If you notice a post which has godmoding, please send a message to a moderator.
Godmoding ties into the next rule: - In character actions mean in character consequences. This is a humor RP because while we RP these Sueish/Stuish characters, we will be allowing them to experience consequences to their actions, which is the key to making the game interesting and not just 'La la la I see a rainbow and butterflies and everything is so swell'. The humor is extracted from their reactions to the consequences of what they do and what they experience and how they interact, not from them sparkling.
- Please mention your favorite color.
