Sometime early January, Mikhail escaped from his cage. The suite door had been left cracked open and he made a mad dash for the common room. Hitching a ride in a student's open backpack, he somehow ended up on the fourth floor.
He scuffled along the wall, peeking around the corner. An office door was open. Mikhail pattered over to the door to investigate. He hadn't eaten for a few hours and hoped (in his little mind) that food would be beyond the door.
The office was dark and empty. He ran along the room and bumped into a desk. He rubbed his nose and ran along the desk. He rounded a corner and hopped around the chair legs. He sniffed behind the desk, coming to something with a nice smell.
Mikhail investigated the object. It was long and narrow. The outside was tasty and soft. He bit into what was Tzu Mei's swords' scabbard and started gnawing happily.

Tzu Mei was in a rare good mood, having just found out that the class supplies he had ordered were going to be delivered early. Thus, he made his way to his office with the intention of celebrating by taking his rifle down to the town for some target shooting. However, once he entered the office he heard noises coming from his desk. The school couldn't have a mouse infestation already, could it?
He carefully did not flick the light on as he tread silently towards the noise. Rounding the corner, he saw that his dearest, his precious darling, was being eaten by an oversized rat with spines! His good mood evaporated instantly, to be replaced with rage. "You bastard," he hissed as he reached down to grab it by the non-spiny part of its head.

Mikhail had been too busy munching to notice Tzu Mei walk into his office. He though the leather tasted very good. Very good indeed. He had reached a metal stud when he heard a hissing. He looked up and saw a large form standing above him. Worst of all, a large object was quickly approaching him.
Mikhail let out a shrill squeak and bolted past the large form behind the desk. He scrambled around the desk corner and shot out of the room.

Abandoning sneakiness, Tzu scrambled to catch the spiny rat while simultaneously cursing in both English and Urdu. When it succeeded in escaping his office, he grabbed his sword and ran after it. "I will make you into a hat, you rat bastard! I will murder you and your family! I will use your own spines to pin you to the wall!" This was followed by a plethora of curses and insults, none of which would be appropriate to copy here.

Mikhail was scared by the noise coming from the large form. It looked similar to his owner's form, but this was much larger and scarier. Rounding the corner, he came to the set of stairs that he had come up (not that he realized this).
The floor dipped down. Mikhail was running so quickly that he flew off the edge of the floor and bounced down the stairs, leaping off the edge of each stair. His hearing enabled him to know that his follower was not close enough to catch him.
Two flights of stairs later, Mikhail bounced too far off the steps and ended up in the corridor. He scampered down the corridor and came up to a large set of doors. They were propped open and there didn't seem to be a place to hide. He darted in and out of the doorway quickly, continuing to flee down the hallway.
