"Things? Where!" said a voice from behind Verin. A blue-haired girl in black and red clothing stepped out from behind him. "Aww," she said, her face falling as she scanned the bus stop. "Those aren't things! They're just people! 'Things' would be way more interesting. Tentacles and stuff, you know."
She casually saluted Verin before sauntering over to the crowd, her duffel bag bouncing against her shoulder. A random passer-by yelped as the girl's heavy boots crushed his wingtips.

A short girl with auburn hair that was tangled in an MP3 player hurried through the doors to the bus stop. She wanted to run from the cramped airplane and baggage pickup room. The jazz shoes she wore allowed her some comfort on the small plane.
She wondered if she would miss her dreary home in Canada when she spotted a group of people. Well, people may not have been the best word. There was a furry boy and someone with wings. 'This is going to get really interesting,' Kahlen thought, excited.
She dragged her electric blue suitcases over to the group while trying to stretch her legs. She jumped as someone yelped and nearly elbowed the girl standing nearest to her. "Sorry," she said sheepishly.
"I guess this is the stop to St. Dymphna's," Kahlen said to no one in particular.

A bus - not the St. Dymphna bus, just a public transport one - stopped at another part of the bus station belonging to the airport. Damien sepped out, struggling for a bit with his two heavy suitcases and the smaller bag slung over his shoulder. With a nod to the driver he trodded off with his luggage, looking down at the sheet of paper with directions in his hands.
So I guess the stop for the next bus should be... He looked up, and saw the straggle of other kids standing grouped together. It seemed quite a mixed group, so far. He mentally steeled himself. I'm human. I can't show them what I am, no matter what. I don't want to repeat the last time I showed another person...
With that, he stepped up to the grup and smiled. "Hi. I guess this is the line for St. Dymphna's? I see suitcases and high school students." He waves over with the hand with the pper, then picks up the second suitcase by the handle again and rolls everything over to the group.

"I'm willing to ignore the fact that you did that." Verin said through clenched teeth, barely restraining murderous rage, "if only for the fact that starting a scene here would be a bad thing for me. And yes, things. I'm not really sure if you qualify as sentient. Sure, you say you are, but are you even aware there's a void where your extra three senses should be? I tried to show a human what I could see once, but I drove him mad. He didn't volunteer though, so it's not like he had the right to complain."
Verin reached the crowd. "but I'm rambling. You, at least, have guts, which of course you shall regret the second the benefit of harming you outweighs the risk. It makes you better than these flesh puppets, in any case. You shall be missed."

Kahlen saw a boy stepping out of a bus. 'I wonder if this is the bus for the school,' she thought. She was proven wrong when the bus disappeared and the boy inquired after the St. Dymphna's bus.
"I'm guessing so," Kaheln told him. "Are you from around here? I didn't see anyone else take a bus."
While waiting for the boy to get his bags straightened out, she overheard a conversation between another boy and a girl. They boy seemed rather upset and talking about... humans. 'Is he not human then? I hope he doesn't get angry with me.'

The blue-haired girl chuckled as the half-demon finished his barely concealed threats against her life. "I can that we're going to get along fine. You know, provided I never fall asleep. Fortunately I have caffeine to guard against that little eventually." She looked down at a beltloop on her skirt, where an empty chain swung forlornly in the breeze. "At least, I had caffeine. Stupid airline 'no liquid' rules. That was my favorite thermos, too."
She dropped her duffel bag to the ground and sat down on it. "I'm Elena. Elena Naught," she said. "And you are?"

Lieutenant Michelle Wilcox headed towards the forming line, grumbling. She had been hoping the pilot on her flight would become incapacitated, which would have allowed her to impress everyone on board by landing the plane herself. Unfortunately, the pilot had been perfectly capable of doing his job and the 15 year old fighter pilot had spent the flight bored out of her skull. Now she was at the airport and carrying two suitcases-one held a few changes of clothes, the other an assault rifle. Putting on the friendliest face she could fake, Michelle approached the most normal looking person in the group: a woman wearing a cat-eared headband. “Is this the bus for St. Dymphna’s?” asked Michelle.

Less Than Beta glanced up from his bored stupor when he heard the bus arrive. Unfortunately, it wasn't the one they were all waiting for. He noted that quite a few more people had arrived after he had zoned out. He approached the boy that wasn't making threats, hoping that he could continue the trend of good socializing.
"Yes, this seems to be the line," he told Damien. "What is your name and family? I am Less Than Beta, of the East Tundra pack." With that, he held out a too-limp hand to be shaken.
((EDIT: Since there seems to be some confusion, Less appears human save for oddly colored hair. He is only furry when in wolf form.))

Ada removed her headphones when the bus arrived, only to be disappointed. Now realizing that she was surrounded by other students headed for Saint Dymphna's, she started paying more attention to the people she would be spending the next few years with.

One could always tell where Druu was just by listening for the sounds of machinery. Her mechanical legs made "whrrTHUMP whrrTHUMP" sounds as they moved. Her right arm, also mechanical, seemed a bit too big for her body, and was held on with leather belts beneath her black t-shirt.
She trundled up to the group, glaring at the world from beneath strands of brilliant green hair. Having been told that her prosthetics just about hit the allowed weight limit, she had brought one backpack for her luggage, overstuffed with everything she could fit into it and carried in her mechanical hand.
"Boooring," Druu announced quietly, fishing around her backpack's front pocket for a DS that had apparently been removed to make room for dental hygiene implements.

Rena stumbled out of some nearby scrub, confused. "I thought... the school was..." she consulted the map she was given. "..the helicopter must have been a few miles off. This is the airport." Taking a pencil, she scrubbed out the symbol representing the landing zone and wrote "bollocks" underneath. "This better have been a mistake. I resent having to slog the wrong way through a wood with this backpack because someone in high command found it amusing."
As she looked, she saw the bus in the distance, people loading their items and boarding. "Ah! no! Wait!" she shouted, too far out of range for anyone to hear as she ran.

Too distracted by the arrival of other students, Kahlen didn't wait for a reply from the strange boy. Besides the furry one (what was he? A werewolf?) had now started a conversation with him. She preferred to talk to girls, anyway. They usually shared her interests.
She set her bags next to a bench and used the seat back as a makeshift ballet bar to stretch her legs and back. "This is taking forever," Kahlen muttered, referring to the long time the students were taking to arrive. "There has to be someone to talk to."
Kahlen looked around. There were quite a few girls. One had pulled her headphones out when the last bus arrived. Another just arrived and looked to be a cyborg. The newest girl didn't seem interested in people at all, so Kahlen decided to try her luck with the first girl. "What are you listening to?" she asked. "I'm Kahlen, by the way."

Verin laughed. This human's bravado was probably the only genuinely interesting thing he would encounter today. "I'm Verin, and I won't say any more in the open. Any skilled demonologist could use my full name against me. I'm sure we'll get along about as well as you get along with an ant."
An interesting person, yes, but there was fun to be had nearby. As he stepped on to the bus, he said. "one of you is afraid of me." smiling to the crowd, he continued "I can smell it. When I find you, I'm sure we'll have lots of fun together."

"I'm Ada", the girl with headphones still hanging around her neck said. "And it's a German electronic-symphony group: Fur Der Vaterland, if you've ever heard of them."
With a bit of an "oof", Ada lifted her cases off the ground, and walked towards the waiting bus. She smiled sarcastically at Verin's proclamation, unimpressed.

After pondering much about philosophy (most of which he'd forgotten by now) Kent came out of his own little world.
"Oh, salsa." he said, answering aloud the question he asked in his head. He looked around. Since when did all these people get here? Were they all waiting for the bus?
Kent wondered how long the bus would take to arrive.
And then he realized it was already here.

"Nice to meet you," Kahlen said to Ada. "I've never heard of that group. I like foreign music, so I'll have to look them up sometime." She saw that Ada grabbed her bags and began to board a bus. "Is this supposed to be the St. Dymphna's bus? Not everyone seems to have arrived yet."
Kahlen turned to a boy who was lost in thought, muttering something about salsa. "Are you as confused as I am?"

Michelle was fuming about not receiving an answer from the girl wearing the cat ear headband. Who did she think she was? However, she saw a sign that read "St. Dymphna's Academy" in the window of the newly-arrived bus. She saw another girl enter the bus and decided to board before all of the good seats were taken.

Responding a bit slowly to the inquiries, Damien nodded to the girl. "Yeah, I'm from a ways up north-east. There's an airport near where I live but I don't trust the things one bit, so I took a looooong ride on the bus."
He looked over to the limp hand extended to him from another side. "Less than Beta, you say?" He raised an eyebrow, but still attempted to shake the offered hand. "I'm Damien Griffiths. Of uh... the family Griffiths." Well, that was nice and awkward. "Oh, the bus is here. Do you need any help packing uh... luggage in the compartments? Miss?" Seeing that Less then Beta had no luggage on him, his offer sounded even lamer than it sounded when he thought about it.
After at least putting his own two heavy suitcases in the luggage compartment he hoisted his shoulderbag up and got in.

The more-tanned twin looked up from the book he was reading and noticed that people had started to load baggage on the bus. He walked over to where his brother was talking to some of the new arrivals and tapped his twin on the shoulder.
"Hey, Scott, time to go."
Scott turned from where he was talking to a blue-haired girl.
"Thanks, Aidan. I could probably have worked that out for myself, though. Have you been standing there reading the whole time?"
Aidan nodded.
"You do realise you'll have to, I don't know, meet these people at some stage?" Scott asked rhetorically.
Aidan sighed at his twin's nagging. "Hey, I'm Aidan," he called to the blue-haired girl, then turned and walked back to his bags, which he picked up and walked over to the bus' baggage compartment. Scott followed, collecting his hockey stick and violin case on the way.
After loading their bags, the twins walked on board the bus, Aidan carrying a backpack full of books and Scott clutching his precious violin - which NEVER travelled in the baggage compartment, no matter what the stupid airline said.

Post by Destiny Valencia Everett on May 14, 2010 20:25:15 GMT -5
A battered police car pulled up behind the bus, and the passenger's side door opened. Out stepped a small girl with long, pale-blonde hair, wearing a rumpled pink shirt and jeans and shimmering a bit in the heat reflecting from the warm asphalt.
Destiny's eyes widened when she saw the bus about to pull away. Not this again! Leaving the car's door open, she ran headlong toward the bus, saw her paint-splattered suitcase sitting on the pavement, changed her mind, and ran for the suitcase instead.
After grabbing the suitcase, Desi made her way toward the door of the bus, hoping it wasn't going to pull out without her.
Having her original plane make an emergency landing at the wrong airport had been bad enough. Being taken for a lost child had added embarrassment to the original confusion. Even being carted around in a police car had long ago lost its appeal for her, as the officer had insisted on calling her a "little girl" constantly. On top of everything, she had just realized that nearly everyone she saw was bigger and most likely stronger than her; and some of them weren't even all human. She had no idea how to identify the creatures she saw tangled up with many of the other students, but she knew they scared her.
Destiny found an empty seat and climbed into it, holding her suitcase to her chest as though it were a shield against the odd newness of this situation. She glanced surreptitiously at her seatmate, not thinking of friendship, but simply hoping that she'd chosen someone whose first reaction wouldn't be to pick her up by her jeans and drop-kick her through the nearest window for daring to exist.
Behind her, the police officer was swearing quietly to himself. He had just discovered that his cruiser had two flat tires.

"Eh?" Kitty had just realized that someone had been talking to her. She'd been spacing out, running over something in her head she'd read before coming here. "Sorry, what was that?" she asked, turning around. The girl who'd asked the question of her, whatever it had been, was getting onto the bus.
"Oh, foo," she said quietly. Off to a great start already. She climbed the stairs of the bus, shaking her head at her own absentmindedness. Great.

Grimfist burst out of the airport, with his usual psychotic glare in his eyes. He knew all too well that destiny lies before him, in the form of a bus! With his usual determination, he strode aboard, regretting that he only brought two suitcases, and worse - only one was full of weapons. Nevertheless, his new life awaits. He found an empty seat toward the back, and made his way there, knowing that his frightening presence would keep anyone else away.
