Edging her way into the entry hall, Theda tucked a bit of curly brown hair behind her ear and stood a little off to the side of the main group. She simply nodded a brief greeting to the only adult in the room, not having caught the Headmistress' welcome. She idly listened to the girls discussing military things, but it was like hearing people speak in a foreign language. She had no idea what they were talking about, but it was somewhat entertaining to guess what the unfamiliar terminology meant. Now that she could see all the students milled around and standing, they were quite the eclectic crew.
It didn't matter to her that she might be being rude staring at all the bells and whistles, horns and wings, bangles and sparkles, and generally unusual whatnots everyone had dangling about them. She'd led a rather sheltered life so far, and the other students were interesting. Of course, she didn't get very close to anyone, as most of what they were all wearing would probably give her a rash.

Jenny said nothing in reply to Rena for the moment, her expression giving away nothing. She also, after a moment, reached out to brush Michelle's mind, catching that thought about Rena, as well as the attitude she'd had earlier.
For a moment her warm eyes were thoughtful, almost distant, as she considered the two military girls--and Somariel, as well. Then, with her senses still mildly more receptive than usual, Elena's voice caught her attention, and she gave the girl a quick look.
Well, I wanted interesting. Her lips curved into a brief, mischievous, satisfied smile--not quite a smirk, not quite excited. And then she turned her attention to the Headmistress. "D'you want us to go somewhere before they all drop their belongings off, ma'am? I could show some of the girls up to our rooms if you'd prefer."
The devious girl could be helpful when she felt like being so, after all.

Kahlen stepped into the hall just as the headmistress welcomed them. She had been admiring the grounds, especially the nice flowers around the main door. Setting her bags next to her, Kahlen joined the crowd, listening to the snippets of conversation.
'There are more people than I expected,' she thought. 'More to introduce to the world of dance... except those military girls. They don't seem to want anything to do with the others.'
She spotted Less and Damien off by themselves. "Hey," she said, walking over to them.

"The first year pool of students is small this year to make sure that there will be no trouble in acclimating everyone to the environment, as well as to ensure that the first year of students are comfortable and know their way around before the school grows larger. After all, everyone here will be setting precedent." Portia smiled before continuing on, looking over to Jenny.
"No, no, it's fine, Jenny, but thank you anyways for the offer." Portia said, shaking her head slightly. She checked the delicate silver banded wristwatch she was wearing. "It's nearly six, and I'm sure all of you are hungry. Instead we'll go to the dining hall, and if anyone is hungry they are welcome to have a meal while all of the professors are introduced and the class system is explained."
Portia turned slightly, and waved towards the assembled students. "If you will all follow me, please." With that, she began to lead the way to the dining hall.

When Mellianne entered the academy, she did a quick glance around and did a very low whistle at the stairs. Then she turned her attention to the adult at the front of the group of students. When dinner was mentioned, Mellianne gladly followed the teacher to the dining hall, but looked around to see where Farran was.

As Michelle followed the headmistress, only one thought occupied her mind: I'm taking that watch.

Desi skidded through the front doors, nearly tripping on the threshold but managing to catch herself before she went flying.
Yes! There were the last few students filing out of the room. She wasn't as late as she thought.
Trying to be casual about it and failing utterly (it didn't help that she was still trying to catch her breath), Desi joined the trailing edge of the group.
One of the rubber bands on Desi's braids chose that occasion to lose its tenuous hold on her hair, dropping unnoticed to the floor. The owner of said rubber band, who was too busy trying to figure out what was supposed to be happening, failed to notice its absence as one of her two braids unraveled itself.

"Jawesome, I'm starving," Kitty said, grinning as she followed the headmistress. Proper food. She'd missed that about boarding school - really the only thing she did miss. And the friends. It's nice to have people my own age around. Even if I will be teaching them.

In an answer to Less, Damien shrugged and said "I guessabout a hundred for every year, so at least threehundred people in a school, likely more. This group hardly fills a classroom." As Kahlen approached behind them, he turned around. "Heya. Shall we get some food? I'm craving something warm right now."

Aurora stepped into the deserted front hall. Was she early or late? It was well after dark so probably late - unless she was a whole day early! That would be embarrassing.
There seemed to be some bustle coming from one of the halls, so she moved on to investigate.
