Damian had half risen from his seat, trying to position himself between Verin and the rest of the group. He scowled at him, knowing full well the demon could probably turn the hall into an inferno. Was the very first school day going to be his downfall already?
With a sigh he got back into his seat as Verin left. Great god, he was going to give him a heart attack some time soon.
"Can you believe it? That sleeps in my dorm suite every night."

Turning to Mellianne, Somariel said "Given that you can control water, that guy should fear you. Once you get a handle on your powers, I'm sure you'll be able to put a damper on any pyrotechnics that he tries."

Mellianne did a face palm. "I can't believe I forgot about that. I can't do much, so I tend not to think about it in offensive terms."
She turned to Damien. "Poor you. I think I would find some kind of ward against him if I had to share a suite with him. Maybe you can convince a teacher that he's psychotic and deserves his own suite."

"Or we could cut out the middleman and hack the school records," suggested Michelle, "hell, even if the teachers got suspicious, they'd probably let it slide just to get rid of him." Then she had another idea. She had never bothered to tell anyone that she was capable of hacking, and decided to take advantage of that. "There's got to be someone here that can do it," she said.

Mellianne shook her head. "I'm pretty sure that if they kept their records on computer, than the computer science teacher, who also is a hacker, can find out easily that someone hacked in, and then we would get in serious trouble. I think that should be one of those 'last remaining options' things."

Kahlen wisely kept quiet during Verin's display. She shook her head. 'Really, what a show off,' she thought.
"Her office is on the ground floor, I think. It should be pretty easy to find," Kahlen said to Damien. "If she hears about the craziness that went on yesterday and his threats today, she might do something about it."
"Or Mellianne can," Kahlen added with a grin.

Mellianne blushed. "I wouldn't be able to do much. Maybe if I was near somewhere with a bunch of water, I might be able to something. But I'm not that good yet. Man, I wish he was three years younger that way I would be able to learn enough to do something before he became a problem."

Admittedly, Michelle's plan hadn't been the most noble one. She had intended for someone else, perhaps Ada Turing to make the first attempt and get caught. Michelle would have used the distraction to locate the Verin's data herself, without anyone knowing that she was capable of doing so. However, she still wanted to be personally responsible for getting rid of Verin. She continued to eat her toast.

Ada, having completely missed the drama with Verin, walked over with a plate of food.
"Good morning!" She said to everyone and nobody in particular. She continued, talking more to Melliane. "I was thinking about hiking out to the beach this afternoon, would you like to join me?"

Mellianne thought for a moment. "Well, I have between 2-3 free cause I'm not taking Choir, my singing sucks so bad, everyone would want to kill me. Then I'm not free until 5 pm." She groaned. "I can't believe I'm willingly going to all those classes. I'm so glad I decided not to take Civic Studies."

Less grumbled as he shuffled his eggs around on his plate. Instincts were telling him to reprimand the errant pup, but he knew he would get in serious trouble if he made another dominance display at Verin. It didn't help that he hadn't been a wolf since the previous day, so he had the magic equivalent of strained muscles. "I don't like him."

Mellianne had a strained smile as she replied to Less. "I don't think anyone likes him. We're just going to have to try our best to not get him mad enough to actually do something to us. Especially something permanent." She finished off her second cup of hot chocolate and and pulled out the water bottle from last night, which she had refilled, and drank out of that.

"Verin is the topic of discussion, then?" Ada guessed.
"The trouble is that he's got enough power that most of us couldn't take him in a straight-up fight... Subtlety will be required, if we want to keep him from becoming more of a problem."

Mellianne nodded. "Yeah. He came in earlier, and said something about how if we fear him, he'll get control. Plus he woke Damien and Scott up by standing in their doorway and sharpening a pair of knives with dried blood on them. We were thinking about trying to get him in a separate suite somehow." She paused for breath and a drink of water.
"And Kahlen said something about me being able to take him cause it seems he uses fire. Problem is, I'm not that powerful. Then Michelle said something about hacking his files to get him in a separate suite. However I don't think that's a good idea cause if his files are on the computer, the computer teacher probably could figure out who did it easily. Specially considering he teaches the hacking class. So those are our ideas so far."
She took another drink of water. "Oh, and what time were you planning on going to the beach?"

Mellianne nodded. "Sure, I should be able to manage that. So glad I had a bunch of carbs last night. Otherwise I would have become really exausted today. So much to do in one day! But it all seems so exciting!"

Aurora stepped into the dining hall and looked around. She didn't see Malakai, so went to grab a try a bit despirited. She packed her tray full of sweets (although the available fruit this morning would be a ways better for her than the cake and pie she'd eaten last night) and went to join the group, coming in just as Mellianne explained the conversation to Ada. She didn't understand one bit of what was being said, but was put off by the generally older student's serious conversation.
She hesitated a few feet away from them, deciding she might be more comfortable getting a seat further away.

Damien sat back in his chair.
"Oh well, I think I'll go to a teacher later today. Hey, what classes is everyone taking? I don't know if I'll be taking the advanced defense class on the schedule, but it might be worth looking into after meeting Verin. I'm just kind of happy that there's more normal subjects as well like history and English."

"Yeah, no one likes him, Less," said Scott. "Not when he pulls stunts like that one. Anyway, let's talk about something more interesting. I'm thinking of taking swordsmanship and forestry, definitely taking music, and I think I have to take civic studies to keep my parents happy."
"Are you guys going to the beach?" Scott asked Ada and Melianne. "Mind if I join you? I haven't been to the beach in ages. I keep forgetting I'm on the other side of the world and it's still warm enough to go swimming here."

Aidan walked into the dining hall carrying his backpack. He was obviously fresh from the swimming centre with his hair messy and damp. He grabbed a plate of pancakes from the food line and walked over to join Scott, Damien, Less and the girls.
"Morning everyone," he said as he sat down. "What's up? Apart from Scott - surprised to see him up this early."
"Yeah, well, normally I haven't been woken up by a knife-wielding psycho before dawn," Scott replied.
"What?" asked Aidan, in shock.
Scott explained what had happened that morning in Suite 1.
"Whoa, glad I'm not in that suite," said Aidan. "Suite 3 is a lot quieter, eh, Less? There's one other boy - Nikolai, I think - but I must have missed when he got to the suite last night and I didn't see him this morning, but I've been out swimming for a while."

Mellianne popped her back, than answered Damien's question. "Well, I'm going to take Cooking, Introduction to Magical Theory, Swordsmanship, Forestry, Survivial, Supernatrual Powers and How to Use Them, Into to the Seven Martial Arts, and Biology. I decided to definitely take the last two after Verin showed up."
She turned to Scott and Somariel. "I have no problem with you coming with." She looked at Ada. "Do you mind?"

Damien sighed. "You have all the good courses. We have history, English, Latin, math, literature, poetry, chemistry... the few things I think are cool are astronomy and maybe marksmanship. Oh, and advanced defense. I'm definitely taking that now."Damien was summing up their classes on his fingers. Yeah, their block had most of the normal classes after all.
"I don't know if I'll do Latin, or poetry for that matter. Though it could be interesting. Marksmanship... nah, also not for me. I think I'd like to do the swordsmanship class next semester though." Oh, the irony of that. The world was coming to an end, a dragon was going to learn how to wield a sword.

Less held up a small piece of paper with a fairly unreadable scrawl across it. "I'm taking Math, Chemistry, English, History, and Marksmanship for certain. I don't know about what others to take. I would have wanted to take Survival, but I'm in the wrong group."

Mellianne thought for a moment. "You know, I didn't even think about which classes I would want to take next semester. Hmm." She looked at the list of classes. "Hmm. Next semester I think I'll take Alchemy/Chemistry, Astronomy, Mathematics, Latin, History, Marksmanship, English, Literature, Advanced Defensive Fighting, and Computer Sciences. Hopefully I'll be able to keep up with everything from both this and next semester."

"Oh right, computer sciences is there as well. I think I missed it... oh, there it is. Yeah, that could be cool if I really wanted to get into computers and stuff, but I'll be fine if I can use one to type up my essays." Turning to Less, he explained. "Well, if you want to do Survival, you'll have to wait. The year is two semesters, two parts, and after the first half of the year the groups switch. You can do Survival then." ((so yeah, I missed CompuScience because it's not on the schedule yet ))

"Mellianne, you don't have to take that many classes," Kahlen said. "My goodness, you'll be so busy!"
