Jingle, jingle, jingle.
Someone might think that Kitty was late for Christmas, what with how she was carrying on. Of course, that someone would not realize that she wore the jingling cat-eared headband all the time.
"Hello, everyone," she said, trying to stifle a yawn. "Miz Cutty, sorry 'bout skipping out on half of last semester. Duty calls and all that...and apparently some people just can't survive without me. Shouldn't be any further interruptions of that nature. Worked it out. I'm on sabbatical."

"Within an hour," Lakshmi repeated, sighing with relief. "Good, good. I hate this waiting, it's killing me. Don't know why they didn't let me just put it in a U-Haul and attach it to my car, not like I wasn't driving anyways. But no, bureaucracy triumphs over efficiency once again, the sad and petty holding dominion over progress..." She coughed. "Sorry. I wax lyrical when I'm nervous. Ohhh, they better not have banged hi-- it!"
