"Must...lost my mind...a few moments...be rid of them."
He took a deep breath. "Oh, I'm not going to cook Frank. I have other plans for 'im."

Yang, who was walking alongside Fredericks and Beiling, tore open a pack of instant coffee and poured the brown powder into his mouth. A few smacks of the lips later, he swallowed it.
"You're keeping him as a pet?"

Fredericks wheezed under his breath for a moment and Yang and Meiling realized he's laughing under his breath.
"Oh no! Greenland sharks don't make very good pets. Suffice to say, Frank is going to help me with a little side project...A little experiment."

Yang remained smiling.
'This truly is a strange school,' he confirmed in his mind.
"What," he asked Fredericks, "if you would kindly tell us, is this experiment?"

"Gonna use it instead of a mammal liver in my next ritual, see 'ow it works out."

"Ah, magical ritual. Well, if anything goes wrong, I certainly hope I can help."

"Bloody well doubt that..."
Fredericks cleared his throat. "Don't think that will be necessary....professor."

"So what ritual are you trying to perform?" Beiling asked, ever inquisitive.

"Uh...err....its all very complicated." Fredericks almost seemed flustered for a moment before returning to his monotonous tone. "Nothing to worry yerself about."
"With luck...Kleodora...or Eurynome."

"Complicated usually means interesting though"
'Why is everyone so against me asking questions?' Beiling had to think to herself as she kept carrying the fish.

Fredericks stares at Meiling for a moment, his eyes narrowed. "You know anything about magic...girl?"

"I read a few of the mansion's magic books, but they were boring and didn't make sense. My mother always said to cultivate our bodies and not rely on magic anyways."

"Then you probably wouldn't be interested in my little ritual" Fredericks said in a hostile tone.
"When did the forest...so far away...forever...although bodies are involved.

"Ugh, fine." Beiling was notably sour and silent for the rest of the trip. 'I just wanted to watch and see what happens.'

Fredericks' eyes narrowed and for the first time he looked directly at Beiling. He scanned her from head to foot, his face expressionless.
"There ain't no watchin'. You're either in or out and I don't think you're ready to be in yet. Not sure anyone in this mamby-pamby school is."

"I know better than to join magic experiments without knowing the goal."
Beiling had learned this lesson long ago, herself being a possible product of a experiment gone awry...or maybe it went to plan. She didn't know.
