In early November (or so), Ada walked into the office.
"I was wondering if I could borrow some extra space," she said. Thinking for a moment about Michelle and Rena, she continued. "Some lockable space, preferably. I'm getting ready to build a body for Tumult, and could use some work space."

Professor Cutty looked over from the large printed out spreadsheet that was on her desk. "Good afternoon, Miss Turing," she said, amusedly. "I take it this was important enough you forgot to knock? Who, or what, as the case may be, is Tumult?"

Ada blushed slightly.
"I'm sorry," she said. "Tumult is the AI that started when I was using the computer lab. She's been offline on a disk since that day, and I promised her that I'd bring her back online."

"I see." Cutty set her pen down next to the print out. "And you need a room to do this in?"

"I'd appreciate it," Ada said. "Given the... impressive reactions that some people had, I'd like Tumult to be mobile, which means robotics. I don't need much space, but a few tables that don't mind solder burns would be nice."

Cutty looked at the monitor of her computer for a moment. "Would one of the empty classrooms on the third floor be adequate? I would of course prefer a lack of burns in the tables; they are quite new, after all."

"That would be perfect," Ada said. "If you'd allow me a trip into town, I can definitely get plywood to solder-proof a table."

"Mr. Fredericks, our groundskeeper might have some plywood. That would save you a trip into town, as well as some of your pocket money, for that matter." Cutty leaned over, and opened a drawer. After a moment, she pulled out a small keychain with a single key on it.
"This is the key for the empty classroom that is across from Professor Tate's classroom. Would I be able to trust you to not make any copies or to give this key to anyone else besides a member of staff?"

"Of course," Ada said. "I don't want anyone other than a professor to have access to what I'm doing any more than you do." Ada had learned her lesson about working on Dangerous Projects and the need to keep them behind locked doors.

With that, Cutty stood up, went over, and offered Ada the key. "In that case, I will feel perfectly comfortable with letting you have private access to that room," she said.

"Thank you," Ada said, taking the key "I appreciate your trust. Unless there's anything else, I'd like to get started."

"No, I don't believe there is anything else at the moment. Thank you for coming and asking me about this before you decided to go further into your plans alone."
