Shihab skulked into the kitchens-- about two-thirty in the morning. He would be missing sleep, except that he'd noticed, lately, he seemed to need less and less. And anyway, every surface in their room that wasn't covered in ice was soaked in ice-cold water. As a desert-dweller, Shihab was Displeased by this moreso than most.
He'd taken the precaution of wearing shadow-gray shorts, and a dark green hoodie, in case he ran into someone who could see through magic; he had also taken the rather more effective precaution of making his entire body and outfit *translucent-- not quite invisible, but very, very difficult to see in the dark, if you weren't looking specifically at and for him.
Currently, he was quietly moving jars in the pantry, trying to find something that would smell stronger to a rodent than peanut butter. He also had plans for the stolen half-pound of broiled cod on the counter behind him, and the grim smile on his face would've been a bit scary if he'd been visible, or if someone turned on the light and saw it inside-out.
*((Translucent, in this case, is about forty percent opaque, or sixty percent translucent-- as I said, by no means invisible, especially in the light.))

Perhaps unfortunately for Shihab, there was another person with plans for the kitchen that night. Less Than Beta had feeling rather peckish for the last couple of days, probably because over winter break he had readjusted to the pack eating schedule. Since that was an irregular diet of gorge and rest, and the school provided a regular diet of about five pounds of food per day, the result was that his body was constantly telling him he was starving when he really wasn't.
The werewolf pushed open the door and padded softly into the kitchen. He could smell someone else there, but he assumed it was just another student after a snack. He made it almost all the way to the massive freezer before he began to wonder how he was going to open that thing without thumbs.

Shihab glanced over at the door as it opened, and froze. For one moment, he considered evasive maneuvers, but... a wolf's a wolf. Stupid, they are not.
"Hullo," he said, very very quietly. "I think I'd heard we had a lycanthrope around here somewhere. Would that be you?"

Yes, I am a werewolf. What manner of human are you? You smell unusual and of magic. Less said through judicious application of body language. He then tried and failed to open the door by hooking his paws through the handles. Were he looking anywhere other than the freezer he was doing an awful job of opening, he might have noticed Shihab's translucency. As it was, though, he didn't.
