Of course he hadn't read fairy tales, what with being on the hunt or watching younger pups at all times. He had, however, been told old stories. They were mostly warnings about doing reckless things, and typically enforced with tales of nasty creatures that would kill you in all sorts of violent ways. Who hadn't heard of the Wendigo, after all?
"That pink girl doesn't seem very mythical. Myths tend to have an odd smell about them."
He paused for a few seconds. An invitation to a social thing! "Yes, I would. I am still not very good at the Hunt Dance. Damien, would you like to join us?" Less was probably going to be focused on his new friend for a while, so naturally he hoped that the girl wouldn't mind him extending her invitation to him.

Damien was kind of surprised at the extended invitation. "Uh, I'm not really a dancing person. I tend to step on people's feet, I tried once in grade school." If only he could fly, he could show them the way he did dance, but face it, that was never going to happen. "I'd like to watch, though, if that's okay with you."

Kahlen was rather shocked that Less hadn't read any fairytales. The way he talked, he seemed to live in some sort of a tribe. "Well, I've never... smelled a myth," Kahlen said weakly. "I'm glad you'd like to dance, though. I've not heard of this 'Hunt Dance', but I'm sure we could come up with a few things."
Kahlen studied Less. He would make a good dancer if she got a hold of him for a few sessions.
As for Damien... "Well, I always like an audience, so you're more than welcome to stop by." Kahlen grinned.

The bus was restrictive. Not much room to move, and Verin couldn't sit down because there wasn't enough room to move his wings out the way. ignoring the petty drama all around him, he grabbed onto the nearest handle and tried to look suitable bored.

"I'm Kahlen. Nice to meet you, too." Kahlen held out her hand.
"Where are you two from?" she asked. These boys were very intriguing, and Kahlen always liked to get to the bottom of mysteries. Especially if they involved intriguing boys.

Really, he should have expected that others wouldn't have the Hunt Dance; Beta had told him things would be different in cities. Less cocked his head to the side as he thought. "I can teach you the Hunt Dance. It's not hard. Just learn by watching."
Less glanced up slightly as something brushed him, then turned back to the group. "I am from the East Tundra, to the north in Canada." He lightly gripped the offered hand.

"Oh, I learn dance quickly," Kahlen said excitedly. "It sounds fun." It seemed Less really was from some tribe. She glanced at his bracelet, admiring the handiwork.
She shook Less' hand. Another Canadian! "I'm also from Canada. I live in Alberta. I haven't been much farther North than that."
Kahlen decided that the 'interesting' she had been concerned about would be a good thing. She popped her neck and leaned into the semi-comfortable bus seat.

Seeing the interest on Kahlen's face, Damien inwardly tried to keep away a drop of sweat. Too much attention. "I'm from a bit North-East from here. Boring place. Anyway, do you mnd if I take a nap? I get sleepy in buses for some reason, and it's been a long way here already."

"I believe the Northern Forest pack has some territory there," Less mused. That pack was a strong one, and was good for the East Tundra pack because they tended to harass a common enemy, the Mid Tundra pack. "Have you seen them?" Their negotiator would have had to have met up with a human settlement at some point.
Man, his neck was starting to hurt from all of the turning. "Sleep well," he told Damien.
((Darting off to get dinner. I'll be back soon.))

Kahlen cocked her head to the left and tried not to take Damien's rather brusque reply personally. "You don't have to ask me to take a nap," she said.
She decided not to push the conversation with Damien further. The last thing she needed in a new school was to alienate the friends she had started making. For some reason she had been more social than she usually was. 'It's the new setting,' Kahlen decided. 'I don't know anyone and they don't know me.' Maybe St. Dymphna's will help her get out of her shell further... it already was beginning to have an effect.
"Huh. I don't think I've seen anyone from a pack," Kahlen said to Less. "Then again, I'm usually holed up in a dance studio or my house... and I have nothing to do with politics or anything like that. That seems like something that would be kept fairly quiet in my city."
Kahlen wondered if any werewolf packs made their way over to Edmonton. She wouldn't have believed they were real, anyways. Until now. There were so many myths that were being proven true in less than a day. "Would you mind telling me about your pack?"

"No offense meant, I just thought it'd be rude if I just went to sleep in the middle of a conversation." He smiled a bit and settled back against the seat, closing his eyes.
(I'm out, need sleep. Back tomorrow.)

"rrrrrrrrrRRRRRRRR WHEN IS THIS BUS GOING TO STOP?!" Verin shouted. Smoke was rising from his hand. He slammed a window, and when he took his palm away, the surface had warped. " I say we take this tin can apart and WALK the rest of the way. Maybe it would tire your fleshy bodies. Maybe, oh just maybe, I wouldn't have to hear you talk."

At the sound of shouting, Kahlen jumped and grabbed onto Ada. "Oh, God! Sorry." She looked up to the front of the bus, noticing that the winged boy was the one who shouted. This boy was angry and Kahlen decided that she wasn't going to answer him, out of fear of some sort of violent response.
Her eyes opened wide when she saw the damage to the side of the bus. 'I hope he doesn't do something crazy when the bus is moving.' She didn't think the talking on the bus was that loud...

Michelle didn't feel that she had anything in common with the other passengers in the bus. She doubted any of them could land an airplane on a rolling, bucking aircraft carrier. However, she had heard one girl mention that she liked computers. Michelle had been a hacker before she became a pilot, and decided they could talk after she was done conversing with the freak who had been sniffing people. Another girl, however, had mentioned "high command."
Michelle decided to put her baggage in the storage compartments. Antisocial behavior was no way to become the enter of attention and the worst misfits had already found seats.

Less Than Beta growled softly at this sudden and rather extreme display of emotion. He wanted to react more forcefully, but he wasn't sure whether or not a dominance display (which would involve switching to wolf form) would be appropriate so soon. In his pack, randomly attacking surroundings would be a sign that the were was only able to attack things which couldn't fight back, and thus a sign of weakness. Therefore he wasn't sure why this display seemed to be causing a minor panic. Though he didn't shift, those near him might notice that he looks a bit more feral than before.

Scott and Aidan walked onto the bus in the midst of all the shouting.
"Whoa!" said Scott lifting his violin case out of reach of the winged boy.
The twins sidled past the boy, Scott glancing furtively out of the corner of his eye at the boy's crimson eyes. Once they were safely out of earshot (or so they thought), Scott whispered "Wow... weird" to Aidan.
They continued walking down the aisle of the bus. Walking past a group of students that included a boy with strange grey/brown hair who the twins had noticed outside the bus, and a slim girl with auburn hair.
"Mind if we sit here?" Scott asked, indicating the empty seats behind the group.
Without waiting for an answer, he placed his violin down on the window seat and claimed the adjacent aisle seat for himself, sitting up to look over the back of the seat in front.
Aidan sat down on the seat across the aisle, paying attention to the people around him for now, but with his backpack of books ready at hand should they prove more interesting than actual conversation.

"Yes. Sit," Less answered, not noticing that his speech had become quite a bit more stilted since the temper tantrum of the winged boy. He still strongly disapproved of such over-the-top displays when a simple raising of the hackles would do (did humans even have hackles?), and thus was still staring pointedly at him.

During the commotion at the front of the bus, Kahlen noticed two boys walking down the bus aisle. They didn't seem as unnerved by Verin as she was. Still a bit shocked by the shouting, Kahlen turned around in her seat to face the boy with the violin.
"Crazy here, huh," she said, winking. She glanced at the other boy, who didn't seem all that interested in what was going on around him. "I'm Kahlen."

"Didn't catch your name?" said Scott.

The young werewolf finally looked away from the winged boy. "I'm Less Than Beta, of the East Tundra pack." He examined the violin case with an expression of interest. "You make music?"

Verin was kicking the wall of the bus. "I - *clang* can't *clang* take this *clang* any more." He turned around, holding up a fist that crackled with electricity. "how far is it to this place? I will fly there at high noon if it means I don't have to be near you!"

Kahlen turned to Aidan and asked, "Do you play an instrument too? I dance, if you'd like to learn."
She internally smacked herself. Why did she always have to ask someone new if they danced? Ah, well. It never hurt to ask anyway.
Kahlen glanced over at Less, who was previously upset by Verin. He wasn't so focused on the boy anymore, so Kahlen relaxed a bit. She didn't know what werewolves did when they got angry.

Michelle was surprised that so many people wanted to be near the boy who had previously been sniffing them all. She knew putting her luggage on the seat next to her had been part of the reason no one had approached her, but she still preferred to blame the creepy, bespectacled cyborg girl across the aisle. She approached the mysterious gray-eyed girl who had accidentally tripped a boy with her backpack earlier. "Heard you say something about high command," said Michelle, "What's your MOS?"

Unfortunately for Kahlen's peace of mind, the winged boy's further emotional explosion grabbed Less Than Beta's attention again, this time with a much more audible growling. He sat further up in his seat, eyes fixed right on where Verin's would be were he been facing the right way. Undoubtedly another antic like the previous ones would cause a considerably more active reaction.

Kahlen's attention was torn away from the brothers, when Less began growling again. 'Oh, God. He's going to get really upset if that Verin doesn't calm down.'
"Less," Kahlen began tentatively, "are you alright?"
Kahlen thought about reaching over and patting him on the shoulder, in fact she had halfway completed the motion before snatching her hand back and placing it in her lap. She didn't want to anger him further.

Aidan turned to Kahlen (someone belatedly since he was off in his own world).
"Um, I dance a little. Not seriously or anything. Scott's the musical one out of us two. I just play guitar, he plays anything with strings on."

"That boy," Less explained with an annoyed tone, "is acting like a pup. He is far too old for such immature antics." Humans have the wrong type of throat for growling and talking at the same time, so he had to stop in order to explain his reaction. "Smacking walls for what? To pretend he is strong? It is a thing that only the very young or very stupid do, and yet he still acts as though he commands respect. If I did that I would be disciplined like that!" He made a quick swishing motion with a hand which was quickly followed by an irritated nonsense noise. "I am tempted to discipline him myself."
