Reading Less' body language, Somariel said, "I'd be quite happy to be your friend, Less."

"Yes, well,..." Kent began with a small laugh, "Try being required to play a national anthem which is over seven hours on every instrument. It's not fun."
"I do play, of course, I brought only my Viola, my Accordion and my Baritone Sax, but I could send home for others." Kent said, thoughtfully. He tried to push upsetting thoughts out of his mind and was, luckily, slowly succeeding.

"Our father thinks that Scott and I don't behave properly for princes. He thinks I'm too shy and serious, and that Scott isn't serious enough. He thinks St Dymphna's is some kind of finishing school!" said Aidan, with a wry grin.

Scott laughed, "I thought our national anthem was long, and it only goes for ten minutes! I hope there's enough musicians here that we could form an ensemble."

Post by Trisha D'Avalon on May 17, 2010 17:57:55 GMT -5
Trisha D'Avalon had been quietly eating her meal while people mulled around her in the room. Her dinner was a small salad that she'd been picking at since everyone had arrived. She just wasn't that hungry, and the butterflies in her stomach were making it hard to eat more than a bit - though shouldn't the butterflies at least appreciate the food she was sending them?
Somehow, she'd managed to remain unnoticed for the duration of the trip to the school and through the arrivals of teachers and students alike. How Trisha'd managed to remain unnoticed for so long when she looked the way she did would be a mystery to most normal folk. The girl was tall, with flowing pink hair that went to her ankles, dark red eyes, and large white angel wings. To top off the list, she smelled strangely of strawberries in cream, which should have attracted attention in any place but this school.
Finally escaping the reverie she'd been in for the majority of the evening, Trisha stood, looking around to see if anyone else was present. Maybe she should go get some dessert, or something, to sate the butterflies.

Mellianne grinned at Aidan and Scott's reasons for being here. "Nothing wrong with being serious. And a finishing school? I thought finishing schools were for girls only. Personally, I'm here to learn how to do more with controling water. I can't do much at a time, or anything spectacular yet."

For the first time in quite a while, Verin felt sleepy. This little meeting was so incredibly dull. For a moment, he wondered if he might actually sleep, even for a moment, but then he felt night arrive, like a grip on his soul being released. His crimson eyes became dull, not catching the light, seemingly completely without life, yet his vision was sharper than ever. For a moment, the light of the room was excruciating, but his eyes quickly adjusted.
He stood up, wanting to be anywhere other than here. He desperately wanted to return home. But he was forced to wait here until this was over. Gripping the table, he forced himself to sit back down and flexed his wings. The table was smoking where he had grabbed it.

"I am here, because my father's evil prime adviser convinced him that being on my own would somehow cause my magic to develop. It hasn't come in like expected." Aelita looked murderous as she thought about the adviser.

"What sort of 'interesting qualities' are you talking about?" Somariel asked Malakai. "I have a rather unusual sense of hearing, myself." Turning to Aelita, she said "Is he really evil, or are you just saying that because you didn't want to come here?"

The idea of controlling water got Michelle's attention. "What can you do so far?" she asked Mellianne, "You could probably find tons of ways to use a power like that." Of course, Michelle had a one track mind; she imagined Mellianne one day using her power to singlehandedly destroy ships and submarines.

Mellianne grabbed her bag and took out her bottle of water. "I'll just show you a bit." She placed her glasses on the table and opened the bottle. She waved her finger and used the water that rose out of it to move her glasses around and then brought them back to her. The glasses were set back onto the table and the water was directed back into the bottle.
Mellianne closed the bottle, put her glasses on, and held the bottle to her head. "As I said, not much, and it gives me a headache."

Just as Trisha stood up, Elena sat down across the table from her. On her dining tray was a plate of plain spaghetti and a cup of coffee.
"Hey there!" she said. "I hope this seat isn't taken. This just looked like a nice quiet spot to have a quick nosh. Name's Elena, by the way."

"Nice to meet you Elena. I'm Trisha."

"It's a pleasure, Trisha," she said with a smile.
Elena twirled some spaghetti around her fork and took a bite. "So what do you think of the place so far?" she said after swallowing. "Not too shabby, if you ask me. Nothing beats a good education - except maybe for this." She raised her coffee cup - no cream and no sugar, it would seem - and took a sip.

"You know interesting qualities like strength, stamina, healing, and fighting. I heard the professors' introduction and it seems like this place is going to be more useful than I thought. Marksmanship, advanced fighting, and swords, and hacking. I think my grandparents' wanted me to study something tamer like linguistics, but that is so not what I want to do with my life."
Malakai was positively glowing. (metaphorically, not in reality)

"It's very nice. Not that I have much to compare it to" Trisha agreed in a quiet voice with a small nod. It was at that point, when Elena indicated her coffee, that Trisha was noticing that she'd never gotten anything to drink or gone for her pudding cup.
"Ah, I apologize, but could you excuse me for a moment? I was about to go and get a drink and some pudding. I'll be right back." she apologized hastily before darting off. She wasn't good with new people, or new places, but Trisha wanted to make a good impression and leaving in the middle of a conversation with a new classmate had to be awful.
The pink haired female darted over to the table to grab herself a pudding cup and some chocolate milk before returning hastily to sit across from Elena again. "I'm so sorry about that," she apologized nervously, "What were you saying?"

Wincing at the rising pitch of Aelita's voice, Somariel thought Okay, that's one person I'm definitely not going to have a lot to do with. What a spoiled brat! I'm not surprised she got sent away if she acted like that at home. Turning to Malakai, she said "Oh, those kinds of interesting qualities. I don't have any of those, but I am very good at archery."

Elena nods as Trisha returns to the table. "I was just wondering whether or not you're looking forward to classes," she said. "Personally, I can't wait. It sounds geeky, I'll grant you, but I just like to get in there and learn."
She scoops up some more spaghetti. "Doing nothing is fine, but you can't do nothing forever."

Trisha blinked a bit, "Classes? Oh, yes I'm rather eager to learn too. Though a few of the ones offered here are a bit intimidating." she explained, awkwardly playing with her pudding.
"D-d-do you think we can pass on classes like fighting?" the girl added after a moment. Trisha really shouldn't be all shy and awkward here, especially since Elena seemed so nice, but it was hard to not be nervous when she really had no idea about what was going on besides what she'd heard from teachers and such. "I'd r-rather do something safer."

Elena slurped down a stray strand of spaghetti. "I don't see why not," she said. "I might take one for the novelty, but otherwise I'm aiming for the more intellectual classes. History and that sort of thing. Maybe a language."
She smiled. "Yeah. I like the idea of learning another language. Someone annoys you, you just insult them in Ancient Greek. They look confused and you feel better." She scraped up the last of the spaghetti and gobbled it down.
"But I'm being rude, dominating the conversation like this." She picked up her coffee and sipped it again. "I cede the floor to you. Tell me about yourself."

Post by Damien Griffiths on May 17, 2010 19:20:32 GMT -5
Damien followed the conversations around him with mild interest. Royalty was all around, it seemed; not just the fairy girl, but the twins seemed to be dukes of some sort, and the one still standing was a prince... great. Talking about their special qualities was really interesting, but annoying because he couldn't do so himself. Perfectly human, he reminded himself.
As Aelita raised her voice to the whine, he closed his eyes for a second and felt a sensation of heat from a corner of the room. He glanced over his shoulder, and saw the demon who had apparently made a ruckus on the bus sitting at a table, alone, looking threatening. If he was going to set things on fire, his cover was going to be blown very quickly.
"So a lot of you play music? I'd like to hear sometime... but is it just kind of classical music or also more modern stuff? Im more of a hardrock fan."

Trisha tittered a little at Elena's talking about Ancient Greek before the conversation was turned towards her. "Me? O-oh, no, really, go right ahead and keep talking. I don't have much to say about myself."
The girl took a drink of her milk then to hide her blush but choked a little on it. "Lo-looks like I drank too fast. I'm sorry."

Destiny had quietly set her tray down near the edge of Michelle's group, thinking they probably wouldn't mind, since at least half the students seemed to have congregated there anyway. As the discussed their abilities, she had become gradually more fascinated. There weren't just a few strange people here--they were all different, or magical, or really, really good at something; and they came from places she hadn't even heard of.
"I don't even really know what this place is," Desi commented. "I thought I was going to a loony bin or something. They used to always threaten me with that. Then they finally couldn't find any more foster places, and I thought I was going to end up locked up for sure. But this looks like one of those private schools that rich kids go to, except I can't do anything special and everybody else can."
Desi finished the last bite of her burger, cold by now, and started poking at the discarded pickles. "'Course, I'm not gonna complain any. It's not a loony bin and that's good enough for me."
((OOC: Anyone who can detect magic will see Desi is lying about not being able to do anything special; anyone who can read emotions or otherwise detect lies will see that she believes she is telling the truth.))

Enamon finally moved back down to the floor from the wall. He strode towards the food, glancing over it with a steadied, judging eye. Surprise reflected on his face. He had never seen food so... good before. He hadn't seen this much variety in food either. Getting one of the large pieces of meat he spotted (steak), as well as a fruit cup and apple juice, he strolled away with his tray to the large group of students that had already gathered up.
As he passed Aelita, he flicked one finger, sending a large spark directly at her hair. When he sat down, he held up the metal fork he'd grabbed, puzzled as to what to do with it. Sparks flickered between the tongs, much like the sparks emanating from his skin, and his golden eyes gleamed.

"Hey, that spark thing is pretty cool. So, what's your name?"
