((pretend this was posted before all the students left for the dorms. I've spent all of today out on site in a shielded building with no mobile phone reception!))
Scott looked bemused as he reviewed the class list. He wasn't going to have classes with Aidan... It's not that he coudn't bear to be separated from his twin (far from it), it was just that they'd always had at least some classes together, and now they were in completely different groups. It was going to be weird...
He started to think about which classes he wanted to take. Music was a given, as was swordsmanship, and he was pretty sure that his parents expected him to take civic studies. Anything magical or supernatural could be ruled out immediately, but what else to take?
"Forestry sounds interesting," he said to no one in particular. "And martial arts might be useful one day." That would mean a lot of classes with Professor Stewart. He had no particular desire to study biology or archaelogy, though, but cooking might be a fun class - and useful, being able to cook his favourite foods whenever he wanted to.

Aidan, meanwhile, seemed to be wanting to do every subject on the list.
"I wonder if there's any maximum number of subjects?" he mused. "Let's see: Latin, English, Literature, Maths, Chemistry and History are all musts... Marskmanship or Defensive Fighting might be interesting... hmm, hadn't thought about Astronomy before."
The fact that he wouldn't be having classes with Scott barely seemed to have registered compared to the prospect of so many new subjects to learn.

Scott and Aidan filed out of the dining hall, following the line of First Year Boys headed by Professor Shiyal. They were soon left behind by the... energetic teacher.
As they walked up the staircase to the boys common room, Scott said to Aidan: "How do you think we should decorate our room?"
"Dunno... we'll think something up. Between your favourite bands and mine, we can work it out."
"Sure... looks like we're close to the common room. Wonder which room we'll have."
((I know the twins aren't rooming together, but they don't. Yet!))
