"Well," Kent began, mulling it over, "I didn't elect to come here, but it looks a lot of fun." Kent smiled again. Yep, he was a happy person.
Kent took a sip of his coffee. He grimaced. he was used to much stronger coffee back home.

"Well, good for you! Im glad that some of us are having a good time." Rena smiled. "Well, command wants me making friends and I don't think they'd like it very much if I isolated myself. So, could we be friends? We don't need to be real friends if you don't want. Just pretend."

Kent raised an eyebrow. "No point being pretend friends. I mean, we don't need to be best friends who would literally die for each other, you know--"
Kent gestured by spreading out his fingers and rolling his wrist around, as though her were fanning himself. It was the gesture for ...And stuff or Et cetera.

Scott replied to Damien's question about music. "I play a mix- classical on my violin, but I also play guitar. Hard rock's good- playing shred guitar is heaps of fun. I used to play in an awesome band at my old school. Do you play?"

"huh? Rally?" Rena said, looking confused at Kent's hand signal. "Oh, I get it. It's great that you'll be my friend. I don't want to keep you away from the other people you were talking to before, though. So should we head over there now? Is it okay for me to go with you?"

Mellianne hid another yawn. Not only was she exhausted from the traveling, she didn't listen to music very often, and when she did it was only over the radio, so she didn't really have much of an opinion on the current conversation. She took her glasses off and rubbed her eyes, trying to keep the sleepy feeling at bay.

Kent looked confused. "I don't know, why wouldn't it be allowed?" Kent blinked. He wondered if there was a social standard here he didn't know about. "but they have eachother to talk with. We don't need to go back just for the sake of it." Kent smiled and cocked his head to the side.

Kahlen saw Mellianne trying to hide a yawn. "Tired already? It has been a rather long trip..." Kahlen was used to getting up early and staying up late. She could also manage to be active while sleep deprived. "You look like you need more caffeine!"
Kahlen had previously brought over a pot of coffee. She poured Mellianne a cup and pushed it across the table. "Here."

At the sound of Kahlen's voice, Mellianne put her glasses back on. Looking apprehensively at the cup of coffee in front of her, she gulped. Shakily she replied, "Thanks."
Coffee was not one of the drinks she liked, but Mellianne had noticed a lack of soda in the drink selection and she desperately needed caffeine. She took the cup and started to drink it, being careful not to let her disgust at the taste show. Finishing it rather quickly, Mellianne placed the cup back on the table and turned to Kahlen. "Thanks, I really did need the caffeine!"

"Oh. Okay." Rena put the cap back on her flask and attached it to her belt. "Empty already... stupid. Sorry, I didn't want to, uh, join a meeting I didn't have... clearance for. It's probably for the best I don't go over tehre, anyway. I seem to be making a habit of alienating people lately."

"Well, In my country I'm privvy to everything, and I want a guest, well, there's not much fuss..." Kent trailled off.
"Anyway," he said, continuing after a pause, "You seem nice enough, how's a pretty girl like you alienate people?" Kent smiled (again!).

"Ooh, could I have a cup as well?" Aidan asked. "I haven't had a coffee since getting off the plane this morning."
Aidan waved at Kent. "Hi, I noticed you talking to my brother earlier. I'm Aidan. Who's your friend?"

((Assuming Kahlen isn't suddenly going to become a jerk...))
Ada poured herself a cup, and then handed the pot to Aidan. After taking a sip, she paused.
"Not bad." She said. "Nothing worth writing home about, but I've had worse."

((Heh, sorry. And no, she won't. XD))
"Oh, sorry! Of course, I could drink a whole pot by myself, but this stuff isn't quite that good." Kahlen could down numerous pots of coffee a day, but her parents usually limited her to a few cups. A few meaning around ten.
"I wonder if all of the professors have shown up. Professor Astin seems to have the most interesting class- not the magic one, of course. Well, to me, anyways," Kahlen mused. "I shall definitely have to audition for the choir. Anyone else?"

"Well, there's marksmanship," said Michelle, "Some of this magic stuff sounds interesting but if I had any powers I probably would've found out during a dogfight." Indeed, despite her superiority complex, Michelle didn't feel particularly special among the other students. She had gotten to where she was through hard work...and a lot of falsified documents.

"Thanks," Aidan said, sipping the coffee. "Yeah, it's not the best coffee in the world. I'll have to ask my parents to send through a care package with some decent coffee beans in it."
"I'm looking forward to the swordsmanship class. Scott and I have been fencing for a few years now, and it'll be great to learn some new fighting styles. Have you ever fenced, Kahlen?"

"No, I haven't," Kahlen replied. "It looks interesting." Kahlen grinned. She'd seen some fencing and thought it looked pretty. Perhaps it could be thought of as a dance, but with swords.
"Although, the swordsmanship teacher seems rather intimidating..." Kahlen considered giving the class a try. She was definitely going to sign up for one of Professor Astin's classes. Something new wouldn't hurt. As long as the something new didn't involve heights, Kahlen was game for it.

Enamon suddenly, finally realized someone else had addressed him, and he turned to Malakai. "My name is... Enamon." Then he recalled something else that he'd been told once. "What is the name that you are called by?" He didn't explain what he was or why sparks were constantly generated from his skin, since he hadn't been asked.

Addressing the group in general, he said, "When do you think they will show us to our rooms?"
(He's ready to leave anytime the rest of the group is, but I probably won't be back online tonight.)

Mellianne thought for a moment, then joined in the conversation about classes. "I'm probably going to be the most interested in Professor Astin's magic classes. Not like I'm here for much else than learning new ways to use my magic. And it doesn't really seem like they have any sorta professor that teaches or coaches normal sports, like swimming."

"Magic..." Ada says. "From what I've heard, it's complicated, finicky, and generally not rational... I think I'll stick with computers."

Mellianne laughed. "Well, its a part of my life. I'm an elf, meaning I already don't live in the normal world." Then she turned serious. "Also I've heard tales about those who refuse to train. If you're lucky, nothing terrible happens; but if you're not lucky, your magic can go haywire which can cause damage and deaths. It's in my best interest to learn how to use my magic before it tries to use me."
She blushed. "Oh sorry, I didn't mean to sound like I was lecturing or anything. I just had that lecture told to me the first few times where my magic started to show itself." Mellianne hung her head, trying to hide the blush.

"I wonder if my healing ability counts as magic. It works well enough when I have a dance injury. I've never had anything serious, so I wonder if I could work with it and make it stronger or something..." Kahlen hadn't given her ability much thought. It didn't seem like magic to her, until she came here.
"I bet you'll end up doing all sorts of wicked things with your water magic, Mellianne," Kahlen said, grinning. "You'd kill everyone at water sports."
"And as bad as I am with computers, they seem to be complicated and finicky. As for rational, they make me do rather mean things to them."

Mellianne raised her head a little. "Oh, but I wouldn't ever use my magic while competing! That would be cheating. I tried once without knowing that it was cheating and got grounded from caffeine for two whole months!" Then she blushed again. "Oh wait, you probably didn't mean it that way. I tend to take things quite literally."

"Oh, I wouldn't think you would cheat," Kahlen reassured Mellianne. "And no caffeine for two months! How awful."
Kahlen winced thinking about the headaches and jitters that the lack of caffeine would cause. And having to deal with that for two months? A nightmare.
"I suppose you play most water sports?" Kahlen asked. She could pass by with swimming, but something like water polo would be a bit much. In fact, what other water sports were there? Oh, yes. Diving...

Ada smiled, understanding just how embarrassed Mellianne was.
"If I ever suddenly develop magical powers, I'll be sure to get trained," she said, mostly seriously. "Not that it's likely to happen, though. The Turing family are about as mundane as you can get."

Mellianne nodded franctically. "Oh yes, it was horrible. And I do play a lot of water sports, like swimming, water polo, diving, and Waboba. I don't really do anything above the water, like surfing, cause its really hard to do that on the Mississippi. And I've never did anything like synchronized swimming, water aerobics, or water gymnastics."
Mellianne smiled at Ada. "Oh, well, I've heard of a few magically people coming from normal families. Plus I once read about someone who had magic that dealt with technology. Who knows, you might develop that kind of magic someday."

"As far as we know, we're completely unmagical as well," said Aidan. "I'm not planning on doing any class that I already know I can't do well in, so won't be signing up for the magic classes." Aidan sounded slightly wistful, as if the prospect of not being good at something disagreed with him.
"I'll be definitely signing up for music class," said Scott. "I think Professor Tate's civics class is a must - I don't see how our parents will let us get away with not doing a class about government."
"Some of the other classes sound interesting - alchemy, astronomy, archeology. I wonder if there's any limit on the number of classes you can sign up for..." mused Aidan.
