Outside the auditorium was a tall blond man taping a sheet to the door. There were fliers around the school announcing it as well, but here was the actual sheet with lines for signing up.
Auditions for Choir All voice types welcome First come, first try out
Auditions will consist of: Range testing Test of rhythm Sightreading Prepared song
Lucien stepped back, eying the sheet almost nervously. Hell if he had any idea what kinds of auditionees he'd get. Tugging a little nervously on his ponytail, he leaned on the wall thoughtfully. He hadn't ever done this professionally, but surely this wouldn't be much different from guest directing his own high school choir, whenever their teacher couldn't be there.
The handsome young man seemed to be lost in thought, his eyes still fixed on that sign, already mentally making lists of balancing sections and possible choices of repertoire.

On her way out to the gym, Kahlen thought she would stop by to check out the auditorium. With luck (and skill) she would be spending a lot of her time there.
She spotted a blonde man leaning against the wall next to the door. 'This must be the professor,' Kahlen thought absently. As she got closer to the door, she saw a sign up sheet. "Oh, this must be for the choir," she said quietly.
Kahlen reached into her bag and pulled out a pen. She read the audition requirements, nodding. This wouldn't be difficult at all. Kahlen uncapped her pen and wrote her name in one of the time slots.

Kent was carrying his Viola, looking for a place to practice. He didn't think the auditorium would be in use right now. He barely noticed the sign on the door. He wasn't much of a singer, himself. He took note of the person watching the sign. He seemed to be in thought. This didn't bother Kent.
Kent approached the man, as he often did with people, and asked him a question as he shifted his viola case to the other shoulder.
"So, are you the music teacher?"

Lucien was a little startled, but came out of his reverie enough to turn and look Kent over briefly. His hazel eyes took in the boy and his case--about the right size to be a viola, he quickly determines--before he nodded minutely.
"I am," he said quietly, pushing a stray strand of hair out of his face. "And I take it you're a musician--singer too, or instrumentalist only?"
His inflection was precise and almost clinical, although there was a gentler variant on a West Highlands accent underlying it. Almost imperceptibly an eyebrow went up a little as he looked down at the boy. Lucien decided he looked a little young to be so tall already; despite being a half a foot taller than Kent, he didn't hit that height until about seventeen. It made him feel a great deal older, somehow.

"Well, I mostly play, but I guess I could try out." Kent shrugged. He never gave much thought to singing. He wasn't even sure he knew all the lyrics to one song. He did sing a little-- mostly in the shower.
"When do I need to audition?" Kent asked, suddenly set on actually being in the choir. He had, in the time it took him to make the previous statement, assessed that this was a new musical opportunity, and a chance to enhance his musical skill.
Also it might be fun.
