Less casually slid a pamphlet over to Malakai. He didn't think he had met the boy before, but hoped that he would accept the invitation anyway.

((OOC: Yeah, sorry guys. I've been kinda busy. Will try and be more prompt in the future.))
Aravind nodded thoughtfully. "Actually, they might be interested in a spell involving water. They mentioned heat and fire, but that was only a suggestion; what kind of spells can you do, Mellianne? That shield was interesting-- do you have anything similar, for maybe... entrapment?"

Aurora, bored with the ongoing conversation about the details of magic use and other students, started her eyes a-wandering. She soon spotted Malakai sitting nearby.
"Malakai!" She promptly jumped up from her seat to take one next to the newcomer, forgetting her tray (for which she had only been picking at anyway.)

Mellianne thought, tapping her finger on the table. "Well, I would have to put a size limit on it. Plus it would probably be best to have it in something portable if they move around a lot, and even if they don't, they'll need to change it so other animals don't get weary about that spot."
She paused for breath. "I would also need to set the main owner and give them a something that has how to add more people to the 'ownership' of the spell. But it should work. Have any idea on what would be a good thing to put the spell in?"

Less thought as he chewed on his last chicken nugget. "Do they have fish available? It might be possible to make a frame of something and spell it to hold things which swim through it. Your magic is water-based, so maybe it would only work or be able to be made only to work if wet? Focus stones could be used to hold the spell, but I don't know if there are any around here..." His voice trailed off as he began holding his arms apart at various distances, presumably trying to determine the best size for such an item.

Mellianne looked at Less. "Hmm. I wouldn't want to try that. It's a little harder when my spell will be surrounded by water, at least at my level. Though if we had a, what did you call it, a focus stone, I could use it to hold my spell and just set the radius and size into it. And that seems like a lot easier to transfer or add to the 'ownership' of the spell."
She bit her lip again. "Though I don't own any focus stones. How hard are they to get a hold of? Plus can they be found in bulk, cause there are a few other permanent spells I want to try. I'll pay for the stones if needed to."

"You sometimes find focus stones on the ground, but they're often half-buried and you have to dig them out. They tend to have shimmers in them, and in some forms you have to be careful so that the shimmers don't flake off. Sometimes you can shape them, but usually that would cause them to fall apart." He was referring to mica-bearing rocks, though he didn't know that was the name they went by. "After a large magic-based event you wait for the smell to dissipate, then start searching. The focus stones are the ones that still smell like magic."

Mellianne nodded thoughtfully. "Hmm. Well I think I'll check my computer and see if I can find a site that has a list of rocks. If they have pictures, we can see if any of them look enough like focus stones so we have an area to look them."

Malakai took the pamphlet, and looked it over. "Thanks, Less. I might take you up on the offer of a hunt sometime."
