Walking briskly, Aravind headed out the entry hall and, after a moment to get his bearings-- having spent most of his days, and all of his nights, in the forest, he wasn't nearly as familiar with the spatial particulars of the school building. After only a moment, though, he turned towards where the staff lounge window would've let out, and headed over to where the long ladder touched the ground, still carrying the stick and cord.

Fredericks had climbed down and was hunched over as he refilled his watering can from a hose attached to the side of the building.
"What can I do for you.....professor?" he asked without looking up.

Aravind leaned casually against the side of the building, silent for a moment. "You know," he said, "We're both watching the forest-- you've got the rest of the grounds on your hands, too, but there should probably be some kind of cooperation, here. You might want to string the brats up by their heels when they do stupid things to your grounds; I'm much the same. No reason to be hostile to each other."
A pause, then, "Anyway, this is a beacon I've put together, just needs a spark to make sure it'll have the right pull. I'd rather not use blood-- nothing personal. I just figured you should know. It'll go up in the center of the clearing." He shrugged. "Wouldn't want to throw you off, or anything."

"Who's 'ostile....they'd know...get 'ostile."
Fredericks stood and turned. "So what's this beacon s'posed ta do? Attract or repel? I've yet to hear of any of the students getting to the clearing, and frankly tis better than way. Regardless of what the beacon's for, you put it up and one of the brats is sure to want to check it out."

"I'm with you on the clearing being off-limits-- it's for sure not a normal place. The beacon is to alert me if anyone gets too close to it, so I can take care of things before we have, say, the demon trying to sacrifice some kid's soul in the center." He hesitated, then added, "If you want, I can get you an amulet, as well."

"Eh, I'll know if anyone gets close. But I s'pose its good to have a second set of eyes on the place in case someone does get the wrong idea. Can you set it to not trigger on me? I'm sure you know I use the place for....religious rites."

A brief flash of something, closest to discomfort, briefly crossed Aravind's face, but he nodded. "Alright. I just wanted to make sure it didn't bother you at all. Good day, then, sir."
And with that, he turned and left, the staff still in his hand.
