Name: Miriam Deirbhile O'Neal
Age: 13
Hair color: Red (traditional redhead, not true red)
Eye color: Blue, violet (heterochromatic)
Height: 5'0"
Appearance: Miriam is short and skinny, but that's not surprising; her mother bloomed late, too. She is pale, with a light dusting of golden-brown freckles across her nose, cheeks, shoulders, and arms, and sunburns very easily, rarely tanning. Her features are sharp and pointed; her hair is a curly coppery red which tangles pretty much when looked at funny, and falls just past her shoulders. Her right eye is a nice normal greyish-blue; her left is deep, vivid violet, and there is fine, not particularly obvious scarring at each corner, which has a tendency to look like tears in most lighting.
Biography: Miriam is the daughter of a traveling poet from Ireland and a social anthropologist with a fascination for words. She was born when they settled down, a good seven years after they met, in a small, remote Irish town. Miriam was always smart for her age, and precocious to boot; she wasn't quite eight when she developed a habit of "exploring" the ruins and wilds quite unaccompanied, and at odd hours to boot, no matter how her parents tried to keep her inside and safe.
It wasn't long after she turned nine that Miriam ran into exactly the wrong piece of stone at exactly the wrong place and time. She encountered a rather well-mannered, if antiquated, spirit named Lonan, who apologized profusely before possessing her and using her to get halfway across the country to finish what he'd left undone before his death. When that was done, some weeks later, he left the girl with his gratitude, and some odd remnants of himself. Nothing so crass as a voice in her mind, of course. Just strange bits of knowledge, here and there, that rose when she needed them, and a few other things left over, both from his life and death. Oh, and an eye.
Miriam coped -- it really was the only option -- but was never quite the same, at least to her parents' eyes, always drifting off mid-thought, reacting to nonexistent things, and so on. She was still as bright as ever, though, so when the opportunity came to send her off to a boarding school, her parents leaped at the chance. She'd do just fine, despite her age, they thought, and maybe she'd even make some new friends.
Personality: Miriam has always been quick, smart, bright, et cetera, but not particularly fond of actually applying this. She tends to do well on tests, having a tendency to absorb material like a sponge, but sees no need for homework which is usually unfortunately a good portion of the grade. Lonan's possession of her didn't really help; now, in addition to her smarts, she has all sorts of interesting things at her disposal, and absolutely no reason to work at school. As a result, her grades are pretty much crap. When she isn't staring at things that aren't there or drifting off, lost in thought, Miriam is cheerfully blunt. She's always happy to be helpful or of use, but she won't sugarcoat the truth, and sees no reason to hide it either. If she thinks you're stupid, she'll tell you so. And so on. She's not always fond of new people, but once she knows someone won't treat her as a crazy person, she's generally good to go.
Skills:
* Random knowledge bits, not always useful, but always relevant
* Very limited telekinesis -- we're talking maximum, a pencil flung across the room. Not really enough to injure.
* Can see things invisible to most normal people. Only in her left eye, though, which if you want to get technical might be Lonan's. Details.
Sue/Stu Traits:
Heterochromatic eyes (-2)
Cool scar (-2) (?) (YMMV)
Genius (-10)
Ex-possessee (yields the above, as well as an unfortunate tendency to forget that walls are solid and a semi-permanent chill that she doesn't seem to notice) (-10)
Owns a backpack of holding (-6)
Bad at school (?)(+5)
(25/30)
