Tomski could feel the call of the computers as soon as he entered the building and as soon as the formailities were over with, the feast which he could hardly eat, he went on the hunt for the place he could hear these tiny, tinny whispers from.
As soon as he stepped into the room he let out a sigh he hadn't known he'd been holding. "Yes. Greetings to you too, my friends." He thought he'd probably spend the night here, getting to know these new entities and all their foilbles. He could last without sleep tomorrow, couldn't he?

Ada walked into the lab, smiling. Finally, she could use the computers without a watching teacher worrying that she'd blow up the internet, or something. Not that she was going to do anything of the sort today - her PC had been built into Tumult, so she'd been limited to her cell phone's tiny screen (useless for webcomic reading) for too long. She slumped into a chair, grabbed the keyboard (full size!) and logged in.
...Waitaminute. There was someone else here. Drat. Hopefully, he wouldn't mind.

Tomski barely even registered Ada's entrance as by that point he'd sat himself down in the middle of the room and started to commune with the electricals in there, getting to know their particular feel, quite different but oh so similar to the ones at homes. It was the computer that Ada switched on that alerted him to her presence.
"Are we allowed in here at this time?" Probably a question he should have asked before. It's a little abrubt but he really isn't very good with people.

"I don't see why not," Ada said. "I got into some trouble in here last semester, but that's all over and done with. Even then, it wasn't because I was here when I shouldn't have been."

He got up and nearly ran over to Ada, stopping at a point which wass probably too close to be comfortable. He gave her a wide-eyed look and whispered to her, "Can you hear how lonely they are too?"

...Great. Another machine whisperer. Time to try to stay out of trouble...
"I..." Ada said, before deciding to be direct. "No, I can't. I'm a hacker, but talking to computers is beyond my abilities. You may want to be careful what you say to them, too, and who's around when you do it. Last semester, I got into a lot of trouble when Aurora started talking to a supercomputer I built. It all ended poorly - Less got shot, and everyone got detentions."

"Less, who ended up as less and shot?" The idea worries him and he jumps back. "You talk to them too then? I can hear them talking about you, you know, the girl who built a better, different one of themselves. It sounds like it was almost fun. I wouldn't change anything you made if you return the favour." He's just itching to make himself a pair of interactive wires and chips gloves so that he could get to work properly. "They like you here, person person. Do you have a name?"

"Less? Less is himself..." Ada said, before realizing that Pieter probably hadn't met Less.
"Less is a person," she continued. "His full name is Less Than Beta of East Tundra, we all call him Less, because his family doesn't seem to give proper names. As for me, I'm Ada."

Pieter nodded, names were strange things sometimes and this 'Less' person had one of the stranger but not the longest that he'd heard. Perhaps his name would be strange to Less... Pieter shook his head to get himself out of the train of thought otherwise he'd be at it all night. "Thank you, I, I didn't realise that. I'm Tomski." He stuck his hand straight out and waited for Ada's reaction.
