Crystal Beach was as calm as usual. The rhythmic thrusts and pulls of the tide played the metronomic tune of the sea. The golden sunset washed the horizon in a beautiful red hue.
Soon, that calm will be shattered.

Professor Yang stepped on the beach; his dress shoe pressed into the sand.
"Beia, are you sure about this?" he yelled over the sea to his opponent, "this may prove to be rather painful for you."
His smile never faded.

Beia yelled back, "Oh, but it will be fun. Just a friendly fight." She was smiling the whole way, only taking this half seriously.

Yang took his cane and stuck it into the sand. He cracked his knuckles and slipped his glasses into his tunic suit. He tightened his gloves and undid his cape, which flew off with the wind onto a nearby tree, from which it hanged like off a coat hanger.
"Very well then... I'll give you the first move."
His smile remained as he read her qi and body movements.
'She's only taking this half-seriously, and she'll probably try for a ranged attack... I'll try to not rough her up too much."

Beia charged her right leg with qi, kicking in a long arc. A spinning, rainbow colored disc shot towards Yang, angled as though it were a shield. As soon as she had her foot on the ground again, Beia charged forward.

Yang took his open right hand and gently pushed the disc out of the way. He then swept his foot in a circle along the ground, aiming to trip Beia.

Beia was a slightly surprised at Yang moving her rainbow disc, though it was a distraction anyways. The sweeping became a liability as she projected a burst of chi from her feet, launching her into the air. Her foot rapidly closing the gap between it and Yang's face. Beia's face only had exhilaration on it, topped with a smile.

Yang grinned.
'Excellent, she won't fall for something as stupid as a leg sweep. This may prove fun after all.'
Meanwhile, he simply allowed gravity to take over and fell over backwards to dodge the attack.

'So he isn't an idiot.' Beia's smile grew larger.
Her kick carried her a fair distance away, where she landed in a crouch. She turned around as she got up, letting her qi regenerate somewhat before attacking again. "Not to bad, how did you alter my spiral kick?"

Yang got up and dusted his back off.
"It's simple, my style, Internal Killing Fist, eschews external qi in favour of internal qi..."
His hands began to glow.
"Of course, our closest ally and rival fighting style, External Killing Fist, specializes in long-range qi attacks. Of course we are going to develop good qi control - close the distance with them."
He hopped around a bit, cracked his neck, and assumed a stance reminiscent of a certain movie star in the 70's from Hong Kong. His entire body was enveloped in a faint, dark blue hue.
"陰殺正呼法:甲 (Proper Breathing Technique of the Internal Killing Style: I)"
"I'm glad to see that you are as good as I sensed your qi to have been, back in Chinese class," he said with a grin, "now then, shall we continue?"

"Lets, but I believe it was your move." Beia said, bracing her feet for a attack, arms outstretched.

Yang calmly walked toward Beia, a smile on his face ever present. Eventually, the two fighters were barely an inch apart.
And, like a cobra, his fist, enveloped in a dark blue glow, flew towards Beia's face at blinding speeds.

Beia dodged with her head, moving her hand to guard her ear. Simultaneously, her other hand launched a hard, if short strike. Red qi exploded out of her hand, hitting Yang the same way she hit the shotput earlier in PE. "Scarlet Crush!" She shouted the name of the move after the fact.

The Professor flinched from the attack, but mostly just shook it off. He then took this opportunity to grab the arm that had blasted him and sent a knee into Beia's stomach.

Beia staggered to the ground, clutching her belly. "I guess I should use more power next time." Her voice came came across as cheery, happy to have battled. "You have to show me how you manipulated my spiral kick and absorbed my Scarlet Crush." It was very clear she was admitting defeat.

Yang knelt down and said with a smile "you were better than I thought; you just need to work on your endurance." He offered his hand. "Here, I'll help you to the nurse."

Beia took his hand to get up but waved off any assistance in walking. "I am not that hurt. Just have homework for tomorrow. Besides, how can I fight you tomorrow if I am all hurt." She didn't seem to think about if Yang wanted to fight or not, though her happy voice and beaming face would make it hard to say no.

"Well, if you really want to," he said, "then I'll be glad to go another round with you. But first..."
"... Beiling, how do you like that name?"

"Beiling? Is Beia Meiling not sufficient?" her voice was of bewilderment.

"Your fighting style reminds me of one from the north of China; Bei (北) means "north" in Chinese; It forms a nice pun with your name, Meiling. There, like it?"

Strangely, Beiling did like it. Just seemed to fit her. "Shi (yes), I do."

Yang was almost going to open his mouth to correct her awkward use of "yes" in Chinese, but decided against it and simply began walking back.
"We should get back, Beiling."
