Chicken and fries and apple juice, just like at home. There was at least that small comfort when there were so many people around. Where would he sit, would people want him near them, he knew he looked a little strange but some of the people here looked even more so. Better just to ask maybe, if anybody heard him in the racket that filled the room.
"I, um, is there any chairs free? Can I sit by somebody?" Please? There's a tone of pleading in his voice, he's never dealt with this sort of situation before and he's lost in it.

"There are a number of them," came a growl from a particularly empty table. Tzu Mei wasn't the most social of people, so he had chosen the lat remaining table with no people to sit at. Without taking his eyes off of his spaghetti and bowl of noodles, the professor waved his hand at the chair across from him. "You would be Tomachowski, correct? You're in my class."

Pieter blinked and immediately moved towards the source of the noise. He put down his tray slowly and blinked at the person who spoke. "Yes, but I don't know any people to sit next to. I was told it was impolite to sit next to people you don't know, there is a illogical loop I couldn't fix there." He'd now spoken to this person therefore knew them so he took a seat at the table but didn't start to eat yet. "Yes, I am sir, Professor, sir if you say so. I like to be called Tomski but you don't have to. I'm not sure I'll be any good at your class, sir, but I'll try, sir." Strangely, he's more comfortable around this man than he is most of the students.

"Who told you that?" Tzu Mei asked. He hadn't heard that little social rule before, though admittedly he had never been instructed in many niceties. He twirled a bit of spaghetti around his fork absently. "My class is out on the grounds in front of the school. Advanced Defensive Fighting. I expect I will see you there?"

His eyes grew wide and he started shaking a little at the thought of going outside and completely missed the point of the first question asked, "They said sir, the servers, they know where your class is and they told me, sir. I'm small and not," he pushed his glasses up his nose, "I don't like outside, sir." He looks at the Professor with a tilted head and for some reason wants to make himself better in his eyes than a scared little first year who can't even make a class. "I really will try to get there, sir, if I can. Coult I bring my bitbobs though, to help me?"

Tzu Mei raised an eyebrow. A lot of people didn't like being outside, but not to the extent that he was picking up from the student. He had had a comrade who was afraid of being caught in the open by the enemy; perhaps this was something similar. "Are they a thing which you would normally have with you?" he asked. "If not, they may not help you fight."

Laquinta strolled into the dinner hall to grab some food, preferably something lamb with vegetables and potatoes. The choice didn't have too much things she recognised, but then again, Greek cuisine was not likely to make its way into the Dymphna kitchens. She spotted the teacher and yet another small, mousey boy at one of the tables.
"Chairete, professor. Mind if I join?" Was the boy in trouble? Didn't seem to be. He felt more scared of something than scared of the professor. Good. Then she wouldn't have to interfere with it. For dinner her snakes were tied back with a coloured band of cloth.

"I make them, sir, I always have some around me." He fished in his bag for a pair of unfinished copper wire and silicon chip glove contraptions and presented them to the Professor, "See? They help me talk to them." A thought occured to him then, "Who would I fight sir? The only times I've fought are when I've been catching viruses that hurt them. I have a lot of those now in my book. Would it be like that?" Admittedly, Tomski's not got out much in his life before now.

Tzu waved Laquinta over. "Sebuz, you are in my class, I believe. Tomachowski, if you are attacked on the street, what would you do? If you cannot fight, you cannot escape. If you can fight but are afraid to, you cannot escape. For example..." He suddenly swept one hand at Pieter's face as a distraction while the other went to put the boy in a headlock.

"I don't know, sir, I've never really been out on the street to have some one attack me-erk" This last as he's put in the headlock. He blinked and grabbed flailingly at his gloves - there was still a lot of electricity in it from this morning's work. He could tolerate it as easy as most could put up with rain, other people though. He managed to catch one and told the energy inside to go to the body holding him, just enough to hurt, not harm or kill. He was confused though, was this what other people were like normally? If so, he'd have to get a bigger battery for his gloves.

Laquinta raised an eyebrow... "I wasn't aware people randomly attack you in the streets. Though it might be different here than in my hometown. I'd certainly not be a target for head-grabbing, though."

Shihab nearly bounded into the dining hall, grabbed himself an apple and a burger, and looked around for a spot.
"Hey, Tomski!" He headed over to where his roommate, the professor, and the Gorgon were sitting, a cheerful smile on his face. "Mind if I sit here?"

What was this here? Static electricity? That was a useful skill to have. Tzu Mei was no stranger to pain, and didn't react to the shock except to raise an eyebrow. With his free hand he waved over the new arrival. "You would be the student with only one listed name, correct? Now, Tomachowski? The world is a dangerous place. Even in the more peaceful parts there are still muggers and gangs. If someone were to break into your place of residence and placed a knife against your throat-" This was punctuated by a subtle tightening of his arm. "-what would you do? That is why I teach this particular course."

"My," His voice was quiet and more than a little strsngled, "My bitbibs would be alerted so either I would hide in my room behind the Faraday Cage or you'd be attacked by some of them my parents made me make for such a purpose. Large, heavy but surprisingly quick things with spkes, circular saws and other nasty things in place." Tomski was more than a little disconcerted at the lack of reaction by his professor to the elecricity and got even more nervous when the other two students behaved as if this was normal. "I see your point though sir, could you let me go though, sir? I think you'll have lot to teach mr in your class, sir." In a strange way, he was looking forward to it.

The headlock vanished as suddenly as it had appeared. "Always a good idea to have your place of residence trapped," Tzu Mei said. He actually meant that, too, no matter what his tone might have said. "The first few classes will be general knowledge testing and maybe some review from last semester. I trust I will see you then?"

Tomski rubbed his neck, entirely confused as to what went on. "Mum and dad had it warded and trapped because of people trying to steal business secrets. Thank you, sir." He thought about it. Maybe if he added some things to his uniform as well as his gloves he could cope with the mindnumbing silence that was the outdoors. "I'll try, sir, I really will. When is the class, sir, if I can ask?" He'd left his timetable in his room and he'd not finished modifying his phone enough for that sort of function yet.

"Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at ten in the morning," Tzu Mei listed off as he turned to poke at his dinner. This conversation seemed to be drawing to a close, but he really didn't have a reservoir conversational topics to continue with.

"Sir, yes, sir. I'm looking forward to them starting." And in his own strange fashion, hee was. "Can I bring my gloves and things, sir?" Tomski asked, "Ylou've got a sword after all amd it should only be fair tjat we should have something to defend ourselves too." He wanted to ask more about that sword and how coe he was allowed to cart it around a school but that all depended on his answe to this question.

"I will provide weapons to use when it comes time for weapons training," Tzu Mei answered. "Otherwise, you should only bring what you are already accustomed to always having on your person. If these gloves are something you usually wear, then bring them."

"I'm, I'm always going to be wearing them, sir, once they're properly finished." He thought that counted. He was a bit frightened at the mention of weapons but maybe it would help in the future and if they were metal they would carry electricity from the gloves - maybe he could give his opponent a nasty shock and look good in the Professor's eyes.
