This wasn't a very good day to be outside; a fog covered the area and the temperature was well below freezing. Let no one say that Tzu Mei was one to pay this any mind, though; he had been up since six AM setting up for his class. It was anyone's guess what all of the sheets of plywood were for, not to mention the piles of various tools (none of which required an outside power source) and loops of rope.
A sign off to the side read, Work together to build a defensive complex. I will be critiquing you. The professor himself was dragging a rather large box of assorted fake weapons; presumably he intended that the students look to offense as well as defense.

Mellianne arrived to class and shivered. She hated the cold and with the fog it was even worse. She was wearing clothes made to get dirty again and decided that until class started, she was going to keep that horrible fog away from her. She put up a barrier and collected all the fog inside her barrier into a small water ball. Arriving at the sign, she turned and waited for someone to consult with. She had no practice building a 'defense complex.' And she didn't really want to interrupt the teacher.

...Well, that was a vague assignment. Ada knew maybe the zeroth thing about logical fortress design thanks to a collection of real-time strategy games, but that was it. Nonetheless, she knew what questions to ask first.
"Professor?" she asked. "How long do we have and what are the enemy armed with?"

Tzu Mei finished dragging the box of plastic weapons to sit in front of the plywood and turned to face the students. Was it that time already? He had hoped he would finish before the class started. "You have until the end of the class period, or about one hour," he answered. "Assume that the enemy is armed with basic assault weapons and explosives. No reported air support, but it wouldn't hurt to be prepared for it. Pretend that the plywood is reinforced concrete, if it will help you plan."

Beiling ran up in time to hear the instructions. Her mind instantly started to think of ideas. "Professor, what is the objective? Hold off the enemy until reinforcements arrive or take as many out as we can? What is the scale of the expected attack?" She asked, unsure what to really plan for.

Tzu Mei raised an eyebrow. Did they really like his theoretical situations that much? "How about this... The enemy is invading your country. You are a part of the defending army. They intend to take the land for themselves, but to do that they must first drive you away or kill you. The enemy does not want to go around you only to have you behind their forces. Your job is to keep from being overrun, but you do not know how much of a force they have sent to attack you. Survival is the key, and you must consider what that means for yourself."
