Less had already spent quite some time dragging a heavy supply of wood (as dry as he could find) down to his den on the beach. Now he had his upper body down in the firepit trying to get it lit. If all went well he would begin smoking the cuts of meat currently resting in a leaking bag off to the side, but this seemed like it wouldn't happen for a while.
After about twenty minutes of failing to light a fire, the young werewolf walked into the surf to check the fish traps. Naturally, they had only managed to catch seaweed and a chunk of driftwood. With an exasperated sigh he began to reposition them.

"Hey, Less!" Kahlen called out. "Whatcha doin'?"
She stopped next to the edge of the water, catching her breath. She had jogged down to the beach. Kahlen slipped off her running shoes and jumped ankle deep into the water.

Turning to look at the girl, Less held up a piece of netting. "I'm trying to catch fish for the bonfire," he explained as he placed it back on the poles stuck into the surf. "Then I will smoke them, along with the meat I bought. Smoked, they will last for a while even if there is still some left. What are you here for, Kahlen?" He checked the placement of the nets carefully, then carefully shifted a couple of the poles to the side.

"Ah," Kahlen said. She glanced at the nets, thinking that a fishing pole would be betters. Not that she had much experience with fishing. She wondered how long the nets would have to be left there to catch fish.
"I was just jogging along the beach. It's pretty relaxing." Kahlen stepped out of the water and squished the sand with her toes.
"Want any help with anything?" she offered, gesturing to the nets and the firepit.

After another minuscule adjustment to the traps, Less followed Kahlen out of the water. "I could use some assistance in lighting a fire. Apparently it doesn't work to go about it lighting wood in the same way as lighting caribou dung." He padded over to his den and sat in front of the firepit, waving at the girl to follow him.

"Sure," Kahlen said. "I think I might be able to help."
She followed Less over to the firepit and crouched beside it. "Got any matches?"
