"So that's what happened," Ada said, rather happy to understand what had gone down. "My computer was running part of a supercomputer, along with the computers in the lab. Some... interesting things started happening right about then. I'm not mad at you, and I don't think you did anything wrong... but you might not want to mention it to Professor Galontaure-Jones... Or Headmistress Cutty... Or Michelle, or Less or... anyone, really. Suffice to say that times are now quite a bit more interesting, and I don't think you'd want to get the kind of attention I suspect you'd get if you told anyone."
Ada thought for a moment.
"I suppose I'm to blame," she said. "I should have shown you how to use my computer, shouldn't I?"

Mellianne grinned. "Yeah. I'm too used to home where we have a cook. The entire ranch would starve cause it seems the only people who aren't out working all day are the ones that can't cook. Though sense I can't actually do anything to help out on the ranch, I figure it would be a good idea to take as many cooking lessons as possible so I can live on my own."

Michelle put 5 slices of cheesecake and nothing else on her tray, then debated whether to further anger the main group of students, by sitting with them or look like a coward by slinking off to another table.

Kent walked up the group because, there was room at the table and there were people to talk to.
He smiled, like usual.
"Hey guys, what's going on?"
He was too much of a space-cadet to be up to date on what was going on around the school. If it didn't happen right in front of him (and sometimes if it did) he wasn't aware of it.

Desi sat there for a moment with a slightly stunned expression on her face. That Ada wasn't angry at her had quickly become much less important compared to the news that "interesting things" were happening, and she was apparently in the middle of them. Somehow.
Desi wasn't usually all that quick to pick up patterns, but this was a pattern she knew very, very well.
"It's happening again, isn't it?" she said quietly. "More strange things."
How long will it take them to make me leave here, too?

Kahlen's eyes got wide. "You have a cook?" she said to Mellianne. "Nice. My mom does the cooking around our house. My dad and I burn water."
Kahlen waved to Kent as he joined the group. "How are you? Haven't seen you a lot. Did you not hear about the computer thing?"

"Kent, right?" Aurora had mostly stopped eating, despite a mostly full tray. She hadn't particularly gauged how hungry she was and so was full after the first couple of items. Now she was left picking at little bits here and there.

Kent looked at Kahlen. "What computer thing?" Kent responded without a blink or missing a beat.
After a short pause for thought Kent suggested what sort of computer thing could have happened. "A robot?"
Kent looked at Aurora and smiled. "Yep. I'm Kent. I think we have a class together..." Kent sort of left that hanging. He spaced out in most classes and really didn't know who he was in class with.

"Not computer again. Strange again." Desi seemed anxious. "Lots of strange things happen to me. Like the time the lightning hit my house even though there was a lightning rod and the time the meteor hit the hospital. I only touched your computer once, really I did, only once. I didn't know anything was going to happen."

Mellianne blushed as she realized how she had never really specified that her family was rich, and would be nobles if it wasn't for living in America. "Oh yeah. Our ranch is huge, and I think parts of it are in a pocket of space that is larger than it seems or something like that. We're the major breeders for most magical creatures, and one of the ones for normal animals."
She turned to Kent. "Hello!"

Kahlen thought for a second. "Well, I wasn't involved in the computer thing, but apparently something was created."
Kahlen wasn't very good at articulating ideas that involved computers. She was intentionally vague, not wanting to say something that she shouldn't.
"A robot would be neat, though. And hey, Mellianne. Think I could get a magical creature for a pet?"

Kahlen shrugged. "I don't think I read anything about not having pets. I'm sure you could keep them in the stables or something... What kind of animals do you raise?"
Magic was a pretty normal thing for the school, so Kahlen had been getting used to the idea. She would have balked at the idea of realy magical creatures a few months ago, but now she was excited about the idea.

Kent had sort of nodded to Mellianne earlier, to greet her.
"What sort of a license would you need to keep a magical pet?" Kent wondered aloud. The very idea of a boggart license sounded ridiculous to him.
"And don't say that! Less is nice." Regardless if this was true, she hadn't done anything to Kent so as as far as Kent was concerned Less was nice.

Mellianne blinks as she tries to remember the types of magical creatures on her family's ranch. "Well, you need one to prove that you're can take care of it, and that you can keep it hidden from those that don't know about magic.
"That's what the license is for. Some of the animals can't be adoppted. Some cause they are intelligent, they just have a hard time fitting in with humans cause they don't look 'normal' enough or they just don't have the ablilty to act 'normal' enough. Others cause they are too dangerous. You're going to want a small one that is easy to take care of right?"
((currently trying to sort through two huge lists to find appropriate animals...))

She thought about what kinds of magical creatures she'd heard about. Tapping her fork against her nose, Kahlen said, "Low maintenance would be nice. Although, I love animals, so I'd be willing to do quite a bit to take care of one."
Kahlen missed the dogs and rabbits at home. They were the family's pets, so she couldn't take one with her.

Kent glared at all of them, before grabbing a napkin and beginning to scribble some notes on it. There was going to be a song about this...
