"I've got a younger brother - he can be a pain at times, but I probably deserve at least some of it. And it's not like I haven't gotten him good on occasion." Ada smiled, halfway between guilty and triumphant.

Mellianne snickered. "I wish I could get my siblings good, but with two older ones-a brother and a sister-who aren't around much, and when they are they happen to be studying a bunch, and the younger two-both girls-closeted away with their studies, the house gets really boring."
She sighed. "Plus if I pranked one, the other one of the pair would help get revenge. I guess that's the problem with being the only non-twin out of the kids."

Ada nodded, sympathetically. "That would make for difficulties, yes... Pranking multiple people requires sneakiness."
Ada paused for a moment and looked towards the kitchen.
"I wonder when they'll be starting dinner."

Mellianne also looked towards the kitchen. "Well, I'm sneaky enough in the water, but they tend to stay out of the pool or any other kind of water when I'm around. And I wonder about dinner too." Her stomach growed as Mellianne blushed. "I was in a hurry earlier so I couldn't grab anything to eat, plus I haven't had my afternnon, midafternoon, or evening caffiene fix yet. I'm definitely hoping dinner starts soon.

Tate walked in took a seat, and then waited for her turn.
Sensing an opening, an outright beaming woman with brown shoulder-length hair and wearing a teal pantsuit bounced out of her chair.
"Hello everyone, I am Professor Tate, and I teach the Civics class. It covers government, economics, and politics, all important things. It's about learning how our society works. In essence, I'm going to make good and honest citizens out of you all!
I don't care if you call me Professor Tate or Jocelyn, whichever you are comfortable with, as long as you are attentive and active in class. Let's have a great time, yeah?"
She nodded for emphasis and sat back down, adjusting her glasses.

Soren had stayed quiet the whole way in. He knew that the lack of monsters was too good to be true - why, he'd seen someone or something fling fire outside. If that wasn't a monster, he was an artichoke. The monsters of the more usual kind had made an appearance as well, of course. A slavering shadow wolf with too many insectoid legs cantered nearby, and he tried to block the image out. It would not put him off his food. Not tonight.
He looked around at the other students, desperately trying to take his mind off of the horror he saw superimposed on reality. Everyone seemed nice so far. Thank goodness. He sighed in relief, perhaps not realizing that he was in public and such a sigh could be noticed.

"That's OK." Desi smiled at Michelle and turned back to the professors. Maybe the other girl would change her mind; maybe not. Maybe somebody else would think of the idea.
Desi wasn't in the habit of joining study groups; had, in fact, never cared about schoolwork for a second; but with fireballs and werewolves about, it seemed like it might make sense to change her schoolwork policy somewhat.
The usual cafeteria smells reminded Desi that it had been a while since she had last eaten. She wondered when dinner was.

"Speaking of which," Ada said, as she looked towards the cafeteria. She rose, still focussed on the trays.
"It would seem that they were ready for us."

Post by Professor Mace Stewart on May 17, 2010 0:59:52 GMT -5
Mace entered the Dining Hall feeling rather queasy. But first, introductions. That's what the other Professors were doing -- to great effect -- upon entering. And why on earth would you be cheerful about having to do duties before eating? It made no sense at all.
"I'm Professor Stewart," Mace said, clutching her stomach. "I teach an Introduction to the seven basic martial arts skills and swordsmanship. I look forward to you joining me in the gym tomorrow morning."
With that, Mace went over her words in her head -- it sounded all right, nothing too rash, nothing to intimate, just expectations that her instructions and introduction would be taken notice of.
Mace noticed a bunch of people hadn't yet noticed the trays and drinks. She would have to show them what they were there for, because she sure as hell wasn't waiting for everyone else to sit down.
Carefully, she picked out a bowl of macaroni and cheese, with a side of noodles. For a drink, she'd chosen hot chocolate, and dessert, a delicious helping of chocolate cake. After demonstrating how to carry a truckload of food to her table, Mace decided to chow down. Let everyone else work out that they could in fact be eating, instead of mulling around.

Melliane also stood up, her hunger the driving force. "It would seem so. I hope that their food selection is broad. I feel like eating a bunch after only having airplane food all day."

Michelle noticed Professor Stewart head towards the food and followed her lead. Despite the fact that it was cafeteria food, it looked and smelled much better than the military-grade fare Michelle was used to. She grabbed a tray and selected a steak, some fries, a soda, and a piece of cheesecake.

Post by Aravind Shiyal on May 17, 2010 1:14:42 GMT -5
Aravind-- Professor Shiyal, he mentally reminded himself-- entered the hall at a brisk pace, and headed immediately for the food. As he reached the table, there was a brief pause in his actions, as he realized that he is supposed to be introducing himself. Ignoring any stares, glances, or looks of any kind, he half turned, calling the introduction over his shoulder as he scooped up various foodstuffs-- mostly greens, some meat and rice.
"I'm Professor Shiyal. I teach Forestry And Survival. We meet at the trailhead for Hunter's Run, without exception. Be prepared for class, don't act like an idiot, and you'll probably pass."
With that out of the way, he finishes loading his plate and brushes past Michelle to sit down at the seemingly least-crowded spot at the Faculty Table, with a cursory nod.

Scott and Aidan ran into the hall, realising they were late for dinner. They arrived just in time to catch the Headmistress' speech, then looked for a place to sit.
They noticed Ada sitting next to a red-haired girl, and walked over.
"Mind if we sit with you?" Aidan asked, gesturing at a couple of empty seats on their table.

Aesc took advantage of a lull in the conversation to stand up from the staff table.
"Good evening, students. I am Professor Thorne, and I will be teaching mathematics, chemistry and astronomy at St Dymphna's. Whether you will be up to the challenge of my classes remains to be seen, but I have hopes of some of you proving to be... adequate students. I shall see you in class."
He returned to his seat. He was under no delusions of his welcoming speech proving popular with the students, but didn't particularly care, as long as they did not disrupt his classes.

Behind Professor Thorne, Alaine enters the room, ducking slightly to avoid the top of the doorframe. "Good evening indeed. I am professor Kensington. My classes will be biology, for the most of you, and I wall also be teaching a course in Archaeology for those who sign up for it. My office and room are on the top floor, if you wish to ask me any questions." She looked around at the haggard group of students, trying to gouge them as students. There kids were going to be difficult to keep in line, she thought as she looked up at the fairy standing on the chandelier. How wonderful.
After a nod, bouncing her white hair on her shoulders, she went to pick up a tray for dinner as well. Her choice was Chicken breast, with a side salad. Her book was still clutched under her arm, napkin in place where she left it earlier.

A third professor pushed himself away from the staff table. "Greetings students. My name is Lawrence Galontauré-Jones and I will be teaching both Computer Sciences and Introduction to Hacking. Should you have any technical concerns regarding your computers, you may put them forward to me during my consultation period. Thank you." His speech complete, Lawrence returns his attention back to his glass of water.

Rushing in behind the twins, Somariel caught the end of the headmistress' speech as she found a seat. Upon hearing Professor von Reinhardt's introduction, she thought, Marksmanship, huh? I wonder what he can teach me that I don't already know? Well, maybe he can teach me how to use a gun as well as a bow and arrows. Then she got up and went over to the cafeteria area and selected a steak, fries and green beans, a pudding cup, and a large glass of milk before taking her tray back to the table.

Malakai followed the group through the line of food. He selected a steak, macaroni cup, mixed vegetables, pudding cup, tea, and coffee. How was he going to survive on so little food?
He took his food and headed for the table where, Michelle, Ada, Scott, and Aiden were sitting. There were so many odd people here that he removed his sunglasses. Green eyes with distinct gold flecks in them wouldn't stand out too much here, and many of the other students were handsome or beautiful, so he wouldn't stand out as much in that respect either. There were even more non-Caucasians than he had thought there would be.
He sat down, and finally introduced himself.
"Hi, I'm Malakai."

Post by Ryan Fyodorov on May 17, 2010 11:14:55 GMT -5
Ryan walked into the dining hall, stretching his back a little. Time to at least make a game attempt at being sociable, introducing himself, and maybe getting to know some of the kids. "Students," he said, looking out at the lot of them. "I am Professor Fyodorov, and I'll be teaching you Latin. In addition to the language itself, the class will also cover Roman history, from the Etruscans to Constantine and the fall of the Roman Empire."
Then he found a chair and sat down, fumbling in his coat pocket for a small bottle of hot sauce and a shot glass. He filled the glass with the hot sauce and tossed back the shot. Weird, but healthier than drinking. Here's hoping the year goes well.

Post by Aelita Selena Auberon on May 17, 2010 11:37:01 GMT -5
Aelita shuddered as she watched the humans eating all those dead animals. Some of them were wearing dead animals. One boy wore a rabbit around his wrist.
She was very hungry. She had refused to eat anything for the last two days at home, in protest at being sent to this horrid place. Her father and mother were usually beside themselves with anguish if she didn't eat. Her very small stature worried them constantly. Even though she was eleven, she wasn't even three and a half feet tall yet. Her five year old cousin was bigger than her.
Surely something was edible down there. It seemed that if she wanted anything, she would have to get it herself. This place seemed to be filled with people equally as caring as her siblings. Until she found some sympathetic adults to be her protectors, she would have to operate similarly to how she did when she found herself in the charge of her siblings. In other words, she would have to pretend to cooperate while compiling a charge list to be given to her protector later. Even if she had to wait until she saw her beloved father again. In a place this horrid, she may well never find an advocate, no matter how small and helpless she appeared to be, she thought sadly.
There was a lull in the line, and she flew down to find out if there was any food she could eat.
She selected the salad plate, steamed broccoli, cheesecake, and apple juice.
There seemed to be a large gathering of students at one table, and the boy who had thrown fire at her was not at it. Neither was the sparky boy that mussed her hair. She decided that that was a safe enough place for now, and winged her way over to their table. She had to kneel in the chair to be tall enough to eat. She folded her wings in tighter, so she took up less room.
She looked around at the others, and not caring if she interrupted any other conversations, because after all, they were not as important as what she wanted, she said, "I am Princess Aelita Selena Auberon of the fairy realm. My father is the great King Oberon, and my mother is the Queen Titania. You may introduce yourselves now."
(ooc: Feel free to laugh at her haughty attitude.)

Post by Mellianne Joss on May 17, 2010 12:06:58 GMT -5
Mellianne had grabbed a plate of spaghetti, some fries, and a piece of chocolate cake, as well as a bottle of water and sighed. Man, I'm definitely going to need to do some exercising to stay in shape. When she got back to the table, she turned to Malakai, not sure how to deal with the other three who appeared to know Ada, though the last one hadn't said anything yet. "Hi, I'm Mellianne!"
Turning to the small fairy, she raised an eyebrow and smirked. Definitely a spoiled one, oh well, time for those manners she learned to come in extra handy. "I am Mellianne Joss." Her purple eyes seemed to twinkle slightly with the laughter she was holding in. If it became a problem she could later prove that, although not royalty, her family was a rich one with a great reputation for their breeding work.

Post by Damien Griffiths on May 17, 2010 12:15:45 GMT -5
Damien left his suitcases in the hallway - he assumed that they woud be safe enough there - and looked around the dining hall. Everything was as grand and splendorous as the entrance hall. This academy was going to be awesome. He noticed the many people looking like professors on one end, and was sad he missed introductions, apparently.
He spotted the girls he talked to on the bus sitting in a group with the fairy girl, and decided food was good. He decided on steak with mashed potatoes and green beans, and tapped a cup of hot water from the tea machine, which he gulped down instantly after checking nobody was looking hiw way. After that ge got an actual cup of tea and went for a table near the group. The one they were on was getting a bit full, so he settled for the table next to them.
"Hey guys. How's the food so far? It looks good to me." The heat of the tea was bliss, warming him up nicely.

"Hey, Ada," Kahlen called, as she balanced a tray of food. "I saw you waving."
A redheaded girl with a blue streak in her hair was sitting next to Ada.
"Hi, I'm Kahlen." There was an empty chair across from the pair, which Kahlen plopped into. "I like your hair."
Noticing Scott and Aidan, Kahlen waved.

Mellianne grinned at the girl who sat down across from her. "Hi, my name is Mellianne. And thank you, but it's natural, so it's not like I did anything to my hair to cause it."
She then turned to the boy who had sat down at a nearby table to the group after having sampled all her food except the cake. "For the food, so far, so good. I'm saving the dessert for last, so we'll see if it's all good. Oh, and my name is Mellianne!"

Natural blue hair? Interesting. "Cool," Kahlen replied.
She picked up her fork and dug into her pasta. "This is rather good. Much better than the terrible cafeteria food I was expecting. But then again, I am hungry."
After a few more bites of food, Kahlen wondered aloud, "I wonder how roommates will be selected. I should think it would be fun if we could choose."

"I'm Damien. I'll have a taste now... it looks good, anyway. Say, would the lot of you mind if Less sat with us in a bit? He seems to follow me around since we got off the bus." Damien started cutting his steak into manageable chunks, which were stil kind of big. When he saw the size, he cut everything smaller since he didn't want to overstuff and start spraying food and saliva when he ate.

Rena chose a seat near the crowd, but not right next to them, before she went to get her meal. Placing her pack down, she went over to the line, while listening to the teachers introduce themselves.
Marksmanship. That's my ticket to the guns. Well, at least that's one problem solved. As Rena approached the table, she realised she didn't really know what most of this food was. Military rations didn't have much variety. Selecting some salad, she sat back down and took her flask off her belt, leaving it on the table.
