Damien spotted Less on the other hand, and waved him over. "We're here, Less, come sit at the table." To the other people, he introduced the werewolf. "This is Less Than Beta, from Canada. I think his group was... East Tundra or something? Tell me if I got that right."
(Is Less bringing a plate?)

Malakai was a little behind in the conversation, as he had been busy eating as quickly as possible. The steak and other food was gone. In fact his dishes looked like they had just come from the dishwasher.
Responding to an earlier thread of the conversation, he said, "I was sent here by my parents, because I scared my grandparents last spring. I've always lived with my grandparents, while my parents travel. Anyway, they decided that if I was going to be throwing couches through windows that I had to go live somewhere else. Seriously one little mistake, and they've shipped me off."

Mellianne's eyes boggled. "A place to swim with tame dolphins?! That's incrediable."
She then turned to Damien and Less. "Hello! I'm Mellianne. Pleasure to meet you!"
Then Mellianne turned to talk to Malakai. "You threw a couch out a window?"

((Yep, he has a plate. The steak's too hot to hold in his hands.))
"Yes, the East Tundra pack," Less Than Beta answered happily as he sat down. He liked not having to wait until the others were done to eat, and wasted no time in tearing at the steak with two awkwardly-held knives. He probably should have gotten a fork instead of a second knife. "What meat is this?"

"I think it's beef - cow, I mean. I think you should get a fork for one of those knives, it's a lot easier." Damien rushes off to get Less a fork, and replaces the knife in his left hand with it. "You can use this one to prick up bits and hold it down while you cut. It's a lot easier than two knives, trust me on that one." On his way he'd grabbed a slice of cake too, intrigued by the positive comments made by the girls.

"Go, Canada!" Kahlen said, while miming waving a flag.
She noticed Less was eating with two knives. "It's a lot easier with a fork. And I second that it's probably beef. I'm not really sure. It looks decent, though."

Less looked at the fork oddly and then tried it out. To his surprise, it worked well. After a moment of chewing he said, "I haven't had cow before. I've mostly had caribou and rabbit, and some lemming. Once a village traded us chicken for some hides. It was pretty tasteless."

Ada decided that it would probably be easiest to show Aelita what a dolphin was, so she pulled out her phone, and loaded a picture of one.
"This is a picture of a dolphin," she said, showing Aelita the picture. "They're very social, and are friendly to humans."

Mellianne smiled at Less. "Well, for chicken, seasoning is usually put on it. But I'm not a cook, so I'm not sure what kind of seasoning they use. And I don't think I've had those others, and I'm not quite sure what a lemming is."

Malakai actually looked a bit embarrassed. "Not my best moment. I was grounded for getting into a fight with the football team. There were only ten of them! And only two ended up in the hospital. It wasn't that big a deal. Anyway, I was grounded, which meant no caffeine, and well, you know how withdrawal is, right?"
He didn't wait for anyone to acknowledge that.
"My grandfather told me that I was to write out-by hand-the legal statutes regarding assault, and then to translate it into every language I know and write it out in each of them. I sort of had a temper tantrum, and the couch ended up out on the street."

Kahlen shuddered at Malakai's mention of being grounded from caffeine. ''My goodnes. I don't really blame you for getting upset. At least it was a couch instead of a person."
Kahlen turned her attention back to the conversation of food. "I think a lemming is a fish or a bird..."

Aelita stared at the picture in wonder.
"What is that magical device?" she asked. "And what manner of magical beast is it that can live in a magic box and then swim in the sea?"

"Fish? I don't think so. There's the computer game, you know? Lemmings? They're some kind of weasely things." The cake was now also rapidly finding a new home.

Mellianne winced. "Ouch, I definitely know about caffeine withdrawal. But a fight with the football team?"
She heard Kahlen and Damien. "Hmm, oh, then I haven't eaten that. And even if it was a fish, I wouldn't have, I dislike fish."
((*sigh* got ninja'd))

"A lemming is a rodent, about so big." He held his hands apart about four inches apart. "You need to catch a lot to feed a pack, so mostly they're hunted by the pups who aren't old enough to take part in a big hunt. They're pretty tasty." His little sister was a very good lemming hunter already, and was probably going to move on to rabbits in a few months.
To Aelita he said, "That's machinery, not magic. It's called a cell phone, and humans use them to talk long distances because they can't howl." The negotiator of his pack used them to keep in touch with the villagers, so that they knew whether a herd they were stalking belonged to anyone or not.

Kent had been looking at the food. It seemed so regular, so symmetrical, so prepared in batches. After finally deciding to just nibble some fries he looked around at all the students.
He recognized Less from the bus line as the harmless but slightly off one and decided to go talk with him.
He politely introduced himself to the group in a formal but friendly was befitting a prince.
"Oh, hello everyone." he said, with a smile, and a small plate of French fries in his right hand, and a single fry in his left. As he greeted them, the fry waggled a bit, as though he were trying to wave at them with it.

"Oh that was a nothing fight, just ten of them, and not one a real fighter. Really hardly a challenge. It's just that I got caught."
He leaned in a bit, and said in a lower tone. "What is she?" he asked pointing at Aelita.

"Hullo!" Kahlen waved to the newcomer. He seemed very polite but distant. "Join us! The more the merrier."
Kahlen shuffled her chair over a bit to make some room at the table. "Pull up a chair if you'd like."

"No," Less answered bluntly. "That is just a picture of a dolphin. An illusion of light."

"I am Prince Kent Bartholomew Christian Kevin Louis Martin Bate-Smith-Jenkens von Herbermayer XII of the Proud Independent Partition of Korbania." he said, introducing himself without taking a breath of batting an eye.
"I think I'm more comfortable standing, thank you." Kent smiled and nodded. He had never been part of a group due to being a prince. He had always been separate from them-- above them. He wasn't sure if he should sit, or be comfortable with them, so he elected not to.
Kent leaned in. "A picture, you know, a copy of what it looks like."

Mellianne raised an eyebrow at Malakai. "Just 10 of them? And I thought football players were supposed to be buff, unless you're talking about non-American football. And, she's a fairy."
She turned to the latest newcomer. "Hi! I'm Mellianne Joss." She raised another eyebrow when he said he would perfer to stand. "You sure? It sounds like it might get tiring after awhile."

Kahlen's jaw dropped listening to Kent's name. And he was a prince... "That's fine. We aren't going to make you sit." That sounded stupid to her ears, but what could she say to someone who wanted to stand while others were sitting and eating. He was rather strange.
"I'm Kahlen, by the way." She decided not to hold out her hand. He probably wouldn't shake it.

"I am Less Than Beta of the East Tundra pack," Less replied in turn. "You have many names. How did you earn them all?" In the pack, ones name represented their relation to the rest of the pack. Less Than Beta was ranked below Beta, and had little other distinguishing features to speak of. He hoped to return home as Second Negotiator.

Kent extended a hand to Kahlen. In his country it was always up to the member of higher rant to initiate things.
"My names? They're family names. One from my uncle, my aunt, my great-great-grandmother... I'm not sure where they all come from, but they're mine." Kent chucked a little.
