Mellianne smiled brightly. "Yeah, my parents were really surprised, before I was born all the family members had the streak, but with normal hair colors. And yeah, it would be nice to room with people we already knew."
She looked over at Damien. "Less? I don't think I've met him. But I don't mind!" Alot of friends would be nice to have as Mellianne didn't have many chances to get off of the ranch much, and who wanted to be friends with siblings that already had a friend, even if that friend was their twin.

"Wow. You must have an interesting family," Kahlen said to Mellianne. "Mine is rather boring. I'm usually considered the interesting one, with my dancing and healing ability."
Kahlen was glad Less would be joining them. She felt bad for him that he had to be relegated to the back of the bus after the incident with Verin. "Less is really nice. You'll like him."

Mellianne nodded as she took a few more bites of her spaghetti. After she swallowed. "Yeah well in my family, my younger sisters, who are twins, can do healing. My older sister seems to have some sorta empathic bond with animals and my older brother is a genius, and they are also twins.
"I can do some stuff with water, but since my parents own a breeding farm, the rest of my siblings seem to have more secure futures if they stay on. But yeah, the family does seem to be one with a lot of different talents, but that might be because we're elves." Mellianne blushed when she realized that what she had just said could be mistaken for bragging even though she just tended to be a motor mouth when people got her talking.
"But it's cool that you dance and I can't wait to meet Less!" She finished off her spaghetti and turned her attention to her fries, still blushing

Noticing Mellianne's blush, Kahlen smiled. "Your family sounds cool. It's a bit of a bore being the only talented one. Do you control water?" Having control over water would be interesting. Perhaps Mellianne was also a swimmer.
"I could teach you to dance, if you'd like. I've asked a lot of other people and they seem interested. I was thinking of starting a dance club here." Kahlen finished her pasta and moved on to a delicious looking piece of chocolate cake. She had a sweet tooth, especially for anything chocolate.

Autumpne looked up from where she was sitting for a brief moment. She could tell already that she was going to hate this place. Everyone here seemed too happy, and too cheerful, besides that one boy on the bus who nearly got into a fight with that dog thing, but he was violent, and that, if anything was worse.
"I don't know why Daddy didn't send me to the local high school instead of this stupid place," she muttered to herself. After a moment, she sighed, and looked depressed.

Introductions. Right. And food. Can't forget that. Antiope eventually gave up quibbling with herself about the relative pros and cons of the situation, and strode briskly into the dining hall. It didn't seem to be an overly formal affair, which she'd worried about for a few moments. "Good evening, all," she greeted the room as a whole. "I'm Antiope Katsaros, and I'll be teaching English, Literature, and occasionally Poetry. I'm sure we'll have much fun together." The last was not entirely sarcastic. She swept her vibrant hair back and out of the way, and, with a nod, went to get some food.

With her blush dieing down a bit, and finishing the fries too and taking another drink of her water, Mellianne started on her cake as well. "Hmm, oh, yeah, I control water. I'm not that powerful though, and I can't do that much yet. That's part of the reason that I'm here."
She took a few more bites of her delicious chocolate cake. "Oh, and thank you, learning to dance would be cool."

"Water control sounds awesome. I don't really like swimming myself, but cool." He gulped down several bites of steak, washed down with still blisteringly hot tea. It should have cooled down by now, but he was feeding some heat into it. Damien preferred his tea really hot. "Also, I think Less is an okay guy. He´s not very world-wise, I believe he's from a group of wolves in Canada from what he told me. I don't think he's talked to people a lot."

"Ah," Kahlen said. "I'm here to be more 'well-rounded.' My parents think I focus too much on dance, but I'm the best dancer in Canada and the US."
'Mmm, the cake is so good," Kahlen thought. She had practically finished her piece.
"We could totally go swimming sometime," she said to Mellianne.

Having finished both her cake and most of the bottle of water, Mellianne stretched. "Well, the other part is cause my parents wanted another honeymoon." She blushed as she said that.
Turning to Damien, she said, "Oh, Less was the wolf on the bus? Yes, he doesn't seem very world-wise at all. But he does seem like a nice guy."
Turning back to Kahlen, Mellianne replied, "That sounds fun, as I don't usually have many people to swim with!"

Kitty was starving, and grabbed a plate of spaghetti, followed with mashed potatoes, a pudding cup, and chocolate milk. Being healthy could wait, and decent food was difficult to come by in her line of work. And she loooooved chocolate pudding.
She looked for somewhere to sit. There was a group of students at one table already, looking happy and gregarious. Naturally she wanted to gravitate towards them, but then she caught sight of a depressed-looking girl sitting alone. Putting her best grin on, she walked over and sat across from the girl. "Hey," she said cheerfully. "Homesick?"

Autumpne looked up, saw the overly cheerful girl with the strange kitty eared headband, and immediately tried to pretend that she hadn't seen her at all.

Looking up from her meal, Somariel noticed a large group several tables away. Maybe I should join them, she thought. After all, Mom and Dad did say that they wanted me to make some friends here. Walking over to the group, she asked, "Does anyone mind if I join you? It's sort of lonely sitting by myself."
(OOC: I mean the group that Kahlen and Melianne are in)

Kitty, being Kitty, of course was unable to get the hint. "Aw, are you shy? That's okay. I know some shy people. They're very smart. You can have my pudding cup if you want."

Who is this person? She is so annoying, Autumpne thought. She carefully maintained her gloomy expression. "No, I'm not shy. And I don't want your pudding cup, thank you." Perhaps if she didn't eat at all the school would have to send her back home.

Ada returned with a slightly overfull plate. Noting that a girl with red hair had taken her previous seat, she took the next one down the table.
"Hey, Kahlen!" she said. "Looks like we're popular!"

Kahlen grinned. "It's rather nice."
Kahlen returned to her cake. She looked around the dining hall, assessing the other students. There wasn't a large number of students, and the hall looked rather empty. She looked over to the professor's table. 'They look rather interesting... there I go with that word again,' she thought. 'I wonder if there's anyone who teaches theatre or something.'

Condescension went right over Kitty's head. (As did most things, because she was short.) "That's quite a nice name," she said sincerely, and stuck a forkful of spaghetti into her mouth.

Mellianne sighed wistfully. "I wish, I've never been to the ocean before. Most of the family trips are to landlocked locations, or with a small lake or a river. Though I do live near the Mississippi River. I've always wanted to see a dolphin."

"I know what you mean," Somariel said. "It took years of begging before my parents were willing to even take me near the ocean. They were afraid I'd drown while trying to swim out to sea and join the whales. They finally relented when I told them about a place in Florida where people could swim with tame dolphins."

Aelita didn't like being ignored, but she decided that she was too hungry to pitch a fit right now, and ate her food while the conversations were going on around her.
"What kind of beast is a dolphin?" she asked forgetting that she had vowed to not find a single thing interesting in this place.

Post by Less Than Beta East Tundra on May 17, 2010 15:16:14 GMT -5
Less finally found his way into the dining hall, having been distracted by exploring the grounds. The first thing he did was go grab a steak and some water for himself. It was the closest to what he ate up in the tundra, which was basically meat wrapped around a stick and held over a fire until it was mostly burnt.
He spent a bit of time being lost before he spotted Damien and darted over to him.
